Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Buysee.
Hi Brad, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I spent more than six years as one of the top-performing sales consultants with Renewal by Andersen, where I helped homeowners complete more than $14 million in window and door projects. During that time, I learned the industry at a very high level — the products, the installation process, the sales experience, and most importantly, what homeowners actually need when making a major investment in their home.
Before my career in windows and doors, I served in the United States Marine Corps as an air traffic controller from 2004 to 2009, including deployments to Iraq. That experience shaped the way I work. It taught me discipline, accountability, attention to detail, and the importance of doing things the right way, especially when people are depending on you.
After years in the industry, I started Bradley James Windows & Doors because I believed there was a better way to serve homeowners. I saw too many people feel overwhelmed by high-pressure sales tactics, unclear pricing, and confusing options. I wanted to build a company that offered premium products, honest guidance, transparent pricing, and a more personal experience from start to finish.
One of the biggest things I have focused on is giving homeowners more clarity upfront. I built an online pricing tool so people can get a realistic idea of what their project may cost before ever scheduling an appointment. To me, that kind of transparency builds trust and helps homeowners feel more confident.
Bradley James Windows & Doors was built on a simple belief: craftsmanship should be earned, not claimed. I keep the company focused on quality products, expert installation, clear communication, and long-term relationships. A lot of our growth has come through referrals and word-of-mouth, which means a great deal to me because it tells me we are doing the work the right way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I definitely haven’t had a smooth road, but I’ve come to believe that challenges are often the tests we have to pass in order to grow into the next version of ourselves.
One lesson I’ve learned is that it’s difficult to judge events in real time. What feels like a setback today may eventually become one of the greatest opportunities of your life. Looking back, many of the experiences that seemed difficult or unfair at the time ultimately prepared me for opportunities I couldn’t see yet.
Throughout my life, I’ve faced a number of significant challenges. I served in the United States Marine Corps and later had to navigate the transition back into civilian life. I’ve maintained long-term sobriety for more than a decade, managed chronic pain from service-related injuries, worked through mental health struggles, and experienced the uncertainty that comes with career setbacks and major life transitions.
Most recently, after spending more than six years building a successful career in the window industry, I found myself unexpectedly starting over and launching my own company. At the time, it felt like one of the most difficult professional challenges I had ever faced. Looking back now, it may have been one of the greatest opportunities of my life.
One thing I have never done is face those challenges alone. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors, friends, family members, customers, and professionals who believed in me during times when I couldn’t always see the bigger picture myself. I’ve worked with the same psychologist since I was sixteen years old, and that kind of long-term support has played a tremendous role in both my personal and professional growth.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become less concerned with comparing my journey to someone else’s timeline. Success doesn’t have an expiration date. Some people find their path early, while others take longer to discover who they are and what they’re meant to build. For me, every challenge, setback, and obstacle has contributed to the foundation I’m standing on today.
At 45 years old, I feel grateful for the experiences I’ve had, both good and bad. They taught me humility, perspective, resilience, and perseverance. Most importantly, they taught me to keep moving forward, stay true to my principles, and trust that today’s challenges are often preparing me for tomorrow’s opportunities.
We’ve been impressed with Bradley James Windows & Doors, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bradley James Windows & Doors is a replacement window and door company serving homeowners throughout North Texas.
We specialize in premium Andersen replacement windows and doors, with a focus on helping homeowners improve the look, comfort, efficiency, and long-term value of their homes. Our work includes full window replacement, patio doors, entry doors, and custom window and door projects where quality, design, and installation matter.
What makes our company different is the experience we are trying to create for homeowners. Buying windows and doors can be confusing, expensive, and overwhelming. A lot of people do not know what their project should cost, what products are actually worth the investment, or who they can trust to do the work correctly. We built Bradley James Windows & Doors to make that process more transparent, more personal, and less pressured.
One of the ways we do that is through our online pricing tool, which gives homeowners a realistic starting point before they ever schedule an appointment. Instead of forcing people into a sales conversation just to get basic information, we want them to feel educated and confident from the beginning.
We also have access to an Andersen showroom through our supplier, which gives homeowners the opportunity to see products, colors, hardware, and options in person when that is helpful. At the same time, we are intentional about keeping our process efficient and personal, so homeowners are not paying for unnecessary layers of overhead.
Our philosophy is simple: craftsmanship earned, not claimed. We believe trust is built by doing the little things right, communicating clearly, respecting the customer’s home, and standing behind the work. Many of our customers come through referrals and word-of-mouth, and that is exactly the kind of company we want to continue building.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people may not know about me is that even though I work in sales and own a window and door company, I am actually much more introspective than people might expect.
A lot of people see the business side: the appointments, the pricing, the products, the projects, and the growth. But behind that, I spend a lot of time thinking about purpose, personal growth, family, discipline, and what kind of man I want to become. I’ve always been interested in the deeper lessons behind life’s challenges and how those lessons shape who we are.
I have worked with the same psychologist since I was sixteen years old, and that long-term commitment to personal development has been one of the most important parts of my life. I believe success is not just about building a business or reaching a financial goal. It is also about becoming more grounded, more self-aware, and more useful to the people around you.
At this stage of my life, I am not just trying to build a company. I am trying to build something that reflects my values, supports my family, serves homeowners well, and gives me the opportunity to become the best version of myself along the way.
