Inspiring Conversations with Crystal Fielder of Crown Your Birth Doula & Holistic Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Fielder.

Hi Crystal, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Honestly, everything started with #CrystalsCounsel. Long before anything else, I was the person people came to when they needed deep, protective, and no-nonsense guidance through life’s heaviest moments. Building that platform and providing that raw, unfiltered truth is what originally opened the doors for me to become a motivational speaker, giving me a stage to connect with and inspire people on a much larger scale.

As I poured into that space, it naturally evolved and led me right into full-spectrum birth work and holistic wellness. Now, although I’ve been in the holistic field for over 16 years, I saw how deeply families—especially mothers—needed that same grounded, fierce support and advocacy during some of the most intense and vulnerable transitions of their lives. That’s what inspired me to launch Crown Your Birth, providing everything from prenatal and labor support to postpartum wellness and family preservation.

But once I was deep in the birth work world, I realized I wanted to back my intuition with even deeper, specialized tools to support the whole person. That’s when I intentionally intertwined becoming a certified life coach, a trauma-informed coach, and a non-clinical sex therapy practitioner into my practice. Having those specific skill sets allowed me to address the deeper complexities, healing, and relationships of the families I serve. Today, getting to blend all of these chapters together allows me to show up for people in every single capacity. Aside from working directly with clients, a huge milestone for me now is stepping into a mentorship role to help guide the next generation of doulas coming up behind me. It’s a lot of emotional heavy lifting, but watching a family feel truly empowered and safe makes the entire journey worth it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think the challenges started with understanding the sheer weight of having a platform. As a motivational speaker, you quickly realize that speaking requires a deep art of listening. People come to you needing your emotional strength based on whatever heavy circumstances they are walking through. Sometimes, your voice is the only thing helping them survive in that moment. You have to be incredibly mindful of the words you speak when you are given the mic and the massive responsibility that comes with it. It’s not always a pretty or easy thing to carry because, although you aren’t trying to be anyone’s savior, you can be a strong reason they decide to keep going.

That same intense responsibility carries directly into my birth work, where people also completely underestimate the true depth and gravity of what a doula does. There’s a common misconception that it’s just about suggesting position changes during labor or helping hold a baby postpartum. In reality, you never know what you are walking into when you enter the private space of someone’s livelihood.

I’ve been in the trenches helping women who are actively escaping domestic violence, fighting complex CPS cases, struggling with suicidal thoughts, or navigating the painful choice of divorce. I’ve stepped into homes dealing with severe poverty and infestations, and I’ve gone into correctional facilities to ensure incarcerated women receive proper, humane care during birth. Holding space for that amount of trauma and hardship is a massive emotional weight. The struggle is learning how to show up in the exact capacity you can handle, while fully understanding that the moment isn’t about you—it’s entirely about them. Every single one of these women, no matter their circumstances, deserves to be handled with honor, dignity, and respect. Learning to balance the business and my own boundaries while unconditionally protecting their humanity has been the hardest, but most rewarding, part of this journey.

Structuring it this way gives both halves of your career equal, powerful weight. It shows that whether you have a microphone in your hand or you are sitting on a bedroom floor with a mom in crisis, you are carrying the exact same standard of responsibility and honor.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My professional work is anchored by two distinct, powerful platforms that stand completely on their own, yet share the same ultimate standard of human support and advocacy.

#CrystalsCounsel is my standalone platform for high-impact motivational speaking, relationship wellness, and deep personal guidance. Driven by the art of listening and the heavy responsibility of the microphone, this platform provides transformational truth and emotional strength to audiences and individuals navigating heavy life transitions.

Crown Your Birth is my full-spectrum birth work and holistic wellness business. We provide premium, comprehensive doula care, prenatal and labor support, postpartum wellness, and family preservation. What completely sets this business apart is our specialized focus on advanced advocacy and trauma-informed care. We excel at stepping into complex, high-stakes environments, ensuring that every family has an empowered, distinguished ally navigating their care alongside them.

To anchor both my speaking and wellness frameworks in concrete expertise, my practice integrates specialized training from Yale and Johns Hopkins, trauma disorders research via the APA, and pelvic floor function through Niel Asher, alongside a board-certified foundation in clinical herbalism.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the absolute reverence, grace, and standard of excellence I bring into every space, whether standing on a stage with a mic or supporting a family through a major life transition. Beyond my direct client services, I am deeply committed to mentoring other doulas entering this field to pass down these same high standards of care. Ultimately, my brand is known for providing a sophisticated, protective layer of support that respects and uplifts the entire human being.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory honestly was just the entire era of the late 80s and the entire 90s. As an early millennial, I got to experience a time of life that truly no longer exists today. We were outside, with no internet, and cell phones weren’t the main focus of life. Social media didn’t exist, and you were present at the table eating dinner. You had cross colors and high-top fades; I was alive when the East Coast-West Coast beef was happening with Tupac and Biggie at their highest levels in their careers. Or when R&B was open to different artists and slow jams looked like men singing in the rain outside your house, like the music videos. The women had black liner around their lips. *laughs*

We could drink from the water fountain, and you looked for where all the bikes were in someone’s yard; that’s how you knew where your friends were at. You had to be home before the street lights came on. Mario and Sonic were a thing, or Duck Hunt and Mike Tyson’s Boxing were played. Donkey Kong and Tetris, just all the games, or Candy Land and Sorry. The holidays were already so special, and you were excited to see and be around family. You left Santa cookies, and knew Christmas morning there was going to be fun ahead, and you watched Home Alone. Just the entire era during that time was and will always be my favorite childhood memory.
