Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Pulido.
Hi Eric, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Ranger and I met in ‘98 while attending college at Texas A&M. Ranger owned a vintage store that I frequented and I was always inspired by his entrepreneurial spirit. In ‘01 we spent a summer in New York doing respective work experiences before graduating and it was a really impactful time of dreaming big and desiring to pursue something creative together one day. Fast forward to ‘13 when Ranger moved up to Denton where I was living since graduating and mainly doing music. I was between Denton and Nashville a lot (where my wife was working) and Ranger between Denton and College Station (where his wife was working) and so we had more time to start dreaming again. My band Midlake was preparing for a touring cycle and the first thing we talked about doing was a screen print poster. Ranger had a little experience with small-scale screen printing from his vintage store days, so we did a little research, bought some supplies, and started doing our best to print some tour posters. The rest (as they say) is history. We were so inspired with how well it worked that we continued to grow and expand and dream!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No road worth traveling is always smooth. Our main challenge has always been how and when to grow. I remember the biggest leap was when we went from a garage to a warehouse and Ranger quit his other job to do Norman Roscoe full time. We weren’t quite ready for that big jump, but we knew it was needed to get to the next chapter. We dug in that much more to make sense of the space and I’m glad we did.
As you know, we’re big fans of Norman Roscoe. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a screen print, design, and retail shop located on the historic downtown Denton square in the Evers building. We love creating fun and unique designs/prints for our own shop while also helping others bring their ideas to life.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the arts community that we have and the collective nature of supporting each other. I’d love to see more spotlights on the arts and appreciate efforts like these that help do so.
