Today we’d like to introduce you to Henri Davis.
Hi Henri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m 34 years old, from Shreveport, Louisiana. I’ve been in DFW for 10 years now because of work.
In short everything started in College at LaTech University when I majored in Computer Information Systems. I knew I wanted to have a job that would provide me with a good salary and flexible work arrangements. From there I graduated in the fall of 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, and received my first corporate role in May of 2014 working as a Service Desk Analyst for TSA as a government contractor in Bossier City, LA. Worked there for about 2 years but I knew in order to get the big bucks in Cybersecurity, I needed to make my way to Dallas. So in June of 2016 I moved to dallas and started working my next role.Once I got to dallas the things I manifested for myself started to take shape. I go my first Cyber Security role in February of 2017 , and also in enrolled in Grad school that same year. By the end of 2018 I graduated with my Masters of Science in Technology Management from the University of Dallas and kept rising in my career. By the time 2020 comes I welcome my first daughter into the world and this is also how TechTual Consulting was birthed. TechTual Consulting is an educational company dedicated to helping people level up in their career in cyber security. Since starting my company I’ve helped people achieve over $3 million in salary increases, I created a linkedin learning course, and started my media Company TechTual Chatter. One of the things I am most proud of is my podcast is The TechTual Talk, where we have over 200 episodes showcasing black people in cyber security, career advices, tech news and more. This has helped me reach people I would never reach about the industry if it was up to conventional methods.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has not been a smooth road. There has been some highssss and some lows to say the least
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about TechTual Consulting?
My business specializes in helping people, particularly those already in IT that are having struggles to get into cybersecurity. I bring my decade plus of experience to help people with my unique skillset.
I’m also currently a security practitioner in my current day job, so i am to help clients stay updated on the latest trends. I most proud of being able to say I operate my company with integrity, there are many cyber influencers that inflate talking points to get your money, I don’t do that.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being able to help people change their lives makes me happy along with taking care of my family.
I remember how it felt to be underpaid doing the most work for a company whereas management got double the pay and did less work. When im able to help people take their salary from $50k to $150k that’s a great feeling.
I enjoy taking care of my family because it lets me share all of my accomplishments with them and give me insane intrinsic value to do t for them everyday
