Inspiring Conversations with Julia Pendleton of Sewin Queens

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Pendleton.

Hi Julia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Originally I was supposed to be a nurse. During college, I had developed tons of clients from students on the campus to do their hair. A lightbulb went off when comparing how much I was estimated to earn with a nursing career vs. entrepreneurship with installing extensions. I knew I had to give it a try but was still very nervous.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My mother passed away of cancer during the process of me figuring out if entrepreneurship was for me. One of the last things she told me was “Doing hair has always been your God given gift.” When she passed away that gave me the confidence and confirmation I needed to stick with complete entrepreneurship.

It’s always bothered me that I never got to install extensions or make a wig for my mom once she recovered from cancer. Unfortunately, her battle ended before she was able to win it. She will be missed everyday.

Recently I was able to make a wig for my best friend Sham’s mom Pamela aka Jag that passed away. I was told that she always wanted one of my wigs made for her. I thank God I was able to make the wig for her funeral. It meant more to me than anything. May God rest her soul.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sewin Queens?
Following my mother’s passing. I started the brand Sewin Queens. We are passionate about making women feel beautiful through premium custom wigs and extensions. We specialize in catering to every woman, from women with alopecia, to women who are in remission from cancer. I believe God has sent me Everyone I come in contact with. I believe my Mother is guiding me with her spirit along the way.

The customer service, hundreds of reviews, and awards that solidify my business, make me very proud. I want women to know that in 12 years of the Sewin Queens brand. Customer service has always been most important to us.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as having the ability to give my husband and children an abundance of quality time while successfully running businesses that provide and create generational wealth.

I feel very successful being able to help homeschool our children, run the businesses and come back home and show my family an immeasurable amount of love and attention.

I’ve mastered the true task of balance. I think every working woman should know we are invaluable and irreplaceable, but life is short. Work should balance the scale with loved ones, not outweigh them.

Living with my anxiety has taken me through ups and downs of doubting myself internally. I spent a lot of time in the past asking God to give me signs if I was living in my purpose He has for me. Each time I’m thankful that God reassures me by giving me a resounding “Yes”.
