Inspiring Conversations with Julie Ngo of Julicious Cakes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Ngo

Hi Julie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a senior in high school who started Julicious Cakes back in October of 2024. My hobby for baking goes all the way back to whenever I was 11, and it has always been an emotional outlet for me and my method of self-therapy. I began this journey due to friends and family telling me that I had a knack for decorating cakes. I decided to give it a shot thanks to their immense support and I imagined how nice it would be to be apart of other people’s special events and occasions!! I am where I am today because of the love the people around me radiate and their sweet encouragement that talked me out of giving up.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road and I do not want to hide that fact. Some struggles that I experienced was comparing myself to other small businesses and wanting to give up. Comparison is indeed the thief of joy and I came to the realization that everyone is at their own pace and so am I. Another challenge for me is time management. I am a full-time student, which is why I require at least a weeks notice for an order. Unlike a job, I typically have piles of homework or projects assigned that also affect my time and availability at home.

We’ve been impressed with Julicious Cakes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Julicious Cakes is an at-home small business specializing in custom designed cakes. I am most known for the trending Lambeth/Vintage frilly piping design. What sets Julicious Cakes apart from others is our compassion and understanding. I try my best to accommodate and work around obstacles for my customers. I am most proud of my logo, which incorporates my favorite color and animal, so people can best feel my personality just by looking at it. I would love for your readers to know that every first order receives free half a dozen cupcakes, no matter what is ordered.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future is to start my own TikTok page, making videos that consist of cake decorating. I’m looking forward to those videos in order to showcase the process of decorating a cake, start to finish. I have just begun my journey so there will not be any big changes yet, but I hope the future in stored for me is bright!
