Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizette.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been someone who dreams big. Growing up in a small town in West Texas in a proud Mexican-American family, I learned early on the value of hard work, faith, and community. My parents taught me to show up for others, serve with humility, and create opportunities instead of waiting for them. Those values continue to guide me in everything I do. Today, I work full-time while building the life I’ve envisioned through entrepreneurship and content creation.
My family’s business, Boot Wagon, started from a passion for western culture and creating a personalized shopping experience. What began with pop-up events and local markets has grown into a brand that combines western fashion with custom laser engraving, allowing customers to leave with something that feels uniquely theirs. Being involved in every part of the business—from setting up events and helping customers to creating content and marketing the brand—has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of building genuine relationships.
At the same time, I began sharing my life on social media. What started as documenting my journey has evolved into creating lifestyle, business, and western-inspired content while collaborating with brands that align with my values. My goal has never been to simply gain followers, but to inspire others to pursue the dreams they’ve been putting off. I also hope to represent young Latina women who are building businesses, honoring where they come from, and proving that your background can be your greatest strength.
Looking ahead, my vision extends beyond retail. I’m passionate about business development and hope to one day expand into commercial real estate and community-focused projects while continuing to grow Boot Wagon into a recognizable western lifestyle brand.
If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that you don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to begin. You can build your dream one small step at a time, and every opportunity—big or small—can become part of something much bigger. I truly believe the sun shines for everyone. There’s room for all of us to succeed, and I hope my story encourages someone else to take that first step toward the life they’ve been dreaming about.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change the journey because every challenge has taught me something valuable.
One of the biggest struggles has been balancing a full-time career while building a business and growing as a content creator. There have been plenty of early mornings, late nights, and weekends spent at pop-up events instead of relaxing. It can be exhausting wearing so many hats, but I’ve learned that building something meaningful requires consistency long before anyone sees the results.
I’ve also had to overcome self-doubt. Like many entrepreneurs, there have been moments when I questioned whether I was capable or if I was moving fast enough. Social media can make it easy to compare your beginning to someone else’s highlight reel, but I’ve learned to stay focused on my own path and celebrate every small win.
As a Latina entrepreneur, I’ve also learned the importance of believing in myself even when I don’t always see people who look like me in the spaces I hope to enter. Instead of letting that discourage me, it’s motivated me to become that representation for someone else.
The biggest lesson through it all has been realizing that success isn’t about avoiding obstacles—it’s about continuing to move forward despite them. Every challenge has strengthened my faith, my resilience, and my confidence that I’m building something bigger than myself. I truly believe the sun shines for everyone, and if you stay committed to your vision, your season will come.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Boot Wagon is more than a western retail business—it’s a family-owned brand built on faith, hard work, and our love for western culture. We specialize in western boots, hats, apparel, and custom laser engraving, allowing customers to personalize everything from hats and boots to wallets, and gifts. Whether someone is shopping for everyday wear or celebrating a special occasion, we want them to leave with something that feels uniquely theirs.
What sets us apart is the experience we create. We don’t just sell products; we build relationships. You’ll find us at rodeos, community events, and pop-up markets where we get to know our customers and help them find pieces that reflect their personality and style. That personal connection is at the heart of everything we do.
As a proud Latino family business, we’re passionate about honoring the traditions of the western lifestyle while bringing fresh ideas through customization and social media. I’m especially proud of how we’ve grown from local pop-up events into a recognizable brand that’s steadily expanding its reach. Every event, collaboration, and customer reminds us why we started.
Looking ahead, our vision is to open our first flagship storefront and continue growing Boot Wagon into a nationally recognized western lifestyle brand. More than anything, I want people to know that when they support Boot Wagon, they’re supporting a family’s dream, a small business built with heart, and a brand that believes in serving its community with authenticity.
Any big plans?
I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds. One of my biggest goals is opening Boot Wagon’s first flagship storefront—a place where customers can shop, personalize products through laser engraving, and experience our brand in person. I want it to become more than a retail store; I want it to be a destination that brings people together and celebrates western culture.
Beyond Boot Wagon, I’m passionate about business development and hope to expand into commercial real estate and community-focused projects. My dream is to create spaces where other small businesses can grow and succeed, while continuing to build something my family and future generations can be proud of.
On the content creation side, I’m looking forward to partnering with brands that align with my values and continuing to share the behind-the-scenes journey of entrepreneurship. I want people to see both the victories and the challenges because I believe that’s where real connection happens.
More than any milestone, I’m excited to keep growing as a person. I believe success isn’t just measured by the businesses you build but by the lives you impact along the way. If my journey encourages even one person to believe in themselves and take the first step toward their dream, then I’m on the right path. I truly believe the sun shines for everyone, and I hope to use every opportunity I’m given to open doors, build community, and remind others that there’s room for all of us to succeed.
