Today we’d like to introduce you to Manuel Reyes.
Hi Manuel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Started construction as a kid growing up in a lower-middle-class family! I literally would do all the messy things and stuff that nobody wanted to do on construction sites! After graduating high school, I told my family I would Never do construction again and joined the U.S. Coast Guard. Spent a little less than 10 years on active duty until I finally made my decision to go back to college. I received my first Bachelor of Science in clinical research in 2009 and my second Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. Both are from the University of Texas at Arlington. After working as an ER- RN at Parkland Hospital (Dallas, TX), I started to do side jobs in construction and found out I really do Love working in construction. It wasn’t until I met my first crew that I realized construction could be lucrative and personally satisfying!!! I stopped working at Parkland and only did nursing for an insurance company and would still do ER nursing at a local small hospital. After doing that for nearly 2 years, I realized that my construction business was booming, and I did not have time to do nursing anymore! It was a hard choice to make, but at the time, if I did not take this opportunity to grow my business more, it was not going to happen any other time! I literally love what I do!!! I can say I work all the time but really never feel like I am working due to me loving this job!! This is literally a dream come true, and owe everything to GOD and my family!!!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not always a smooth road, and finding employees that are trustworthy/loyal has always been the biggest struggle!
We’ve been impressed with A Plus Home Remodel, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Luck has played a big role in my business! Combined luck with Grit has literally grown my business! If you don’t have Grit, then being lucky goes to waste! So yes, a combo of both has played a big role.
