Inspiring Conversations with Neta Tzivoni of Wise Womb Midwifery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neta Tzivoni.

Hi Neta, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into midwifery began long before I enrolled in midwifery school – it started with my own pregnancies.

Before becoming a mother, I never really questioned the common route to birth or challenged much of the conditioning I had absorbed from society, culture, and the media about pregnancy and birth. Like many women, I simply assumed there was one standard path to maternity care. I had a wonderful OB, received good medical care, and gave birth to my first two children in the hospital.

Yet during my pregnancies, I felt that something was missing.

Physically, my body and baby were being monitored beautifully, but I was also going through a profound emotional, mental, and spiritual transformation. I was becoming a mother, and I found myself asking questions that no one around me seemed to be talking about. Who is this baby that chose me to be her mother? How is motherhood changing me? How do I learn to trust my intuition? What does this experience mean beyond the physical process of pregnancy and birth?

At the time, I was new to Dallas and far away from family and support systems. I often felt alone in those questions. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t searching for just medical care – I was searching for connection, understanding, and guidance through one of the biggest transformations of my life.

After my second birth, I began questioning everything I thought I knew about pregnancy and birth. That search eventually led me to midwifery. For the first time, I discovered a model of care that honored not only the physical aspects of pregnancy, but also the emotional, educational, and personal journey of becoming a mother.

I enrolled in midwifery school and spent the next five years working hard to complete the program while raising my family . During those years, I welcomed two more children and experienced two home births of my own. Those births deepened my understanding of the midwifery model of care and further shaped the way I support women and families today. It was one of the most challenging and rewarding seasons of my life.

In 2023, I founded Wise Womb Midwifery with a vision of creating the kind of care I had once been searching for myself, care that combines clinical excellence with relationship, education, trust, and respect for each family’s unique journey.

Today, my purpose as a midwife is not to convince every woman that home birth or out-of-hospital birth is the right choice for her. My purpose is to make sure women know they have choices. I believe women deserve complete, unbiased information so they can make decisions that align with their values, their families, and their unique circumstances.

Knowledge is power. When women understand their options and trust themselves to make informed decisions, they step into pregnancy and birth with confidence. Supporting women in that process is what inspires me every day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have learned in life that when the road is perfectly smooth, you are probably not growing, learning, or challenging yourself deeply enough. So no, it definitely wasn’t a smooth road , and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I decided to completely change the direction of my life at 36 years old. At the time, I was raising two young children. Leaving behind steady work to pursue midwifery meant stepping into years of education, apprenticeship, financial sacrifice, and uncertainty. There were many moments when the easier choice would have been to stay where I was.

Midwifery is not just a profession; it is a lifestyle. The biggest challenge wasn’t completing the training itself; it was learning how to build a life around the calling. Birth doesn’t happen on a schedule, and being on call means missing dinners, leaving in the middle of the night, changing plans, and asking your family to be flexible again and again.

The adjustment was challenging not only for me but for my entire family. There were many nights when my husband was home alone with the children while I attended births, and many moments when all of us had to adapt to the unpredictable nature of this work.

Looking back, those challenges became reminders that I was exactly where I was meant to be. Every obstacle strengthened my commitment to the path I had chosen.

More than anything, I owe so much of this journey to my husband. His support, encouragement, and belief in me never wavered. Wise Womb Midwifery would not exist without him standing beside me every step of the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wise Womb Midwifery?
At the heart of Wise Womb Midwifery is the belief that birth belongs to the woman. My role as a midwife is to educate, support, and guide women as they discover what is right for themselves, their babies, and their families.

Knowledge creates confidence, confidence creates trust, and trust allows women to step into birth and motherhood with strength.

I provide home birth midwifery care throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, offering prenatal, birth, newborn, and postpartum care. While I specialize in physiologic birth and support families who desire an out of hospital birth experience, I believe my role goes far beyond attending births.

What sets Wise Womb Midwifery apart is the relationship I build with the families I serve. Pregnancy is one of the most transformative seasons in a woman’s life, yet many women move through the healthcare system feeling rushed, unheard, or disconnected from the decision-making process. I wanted to create a different experience; one where women feel educated, supported, and confident in their choices.

I am deeply passionate about informed consent and decision-making. My goal is not to tell women what choices to make but to make sure they understand their options so they can make decisions that align with their values, their family, and their vision for birth. Knowledge is power, and I believe women deserve to hold that power in their own hands.

Another philosophy that guides my work is the belief that birth matters, not only for the mother, but also for the baby. We often focus on the physical outcome of birth, which is of course important, but I also believe the environment a baby is born into matters. The way a mother is supported, the sense of safety in the room, the respect shown to both mother and baby, and the gentleness of the transition from womb to world all have value.

Birth is the first experience a baby has outside the womb and one of the most transformative experiences in a woman’s life. I believe both deserve to be honored. When mothers and babies are welcomed with trust, respect, and compassion, we create stronger beginnings for families. Strong families create healthy communities, and I believe meaningful change begins there.

The thing I am most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. When families choose me, they are inviting me into one of the most intimate and vulnerable seasons of their lives. That trust is something I never take for granted.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to work with me is simply to reach out and start a conversation. Choosing a midwife is a deeply personal decision, and I encourage families to take the time to find the right birth team that feels aligned with their values, goals, and vision for birth.

I am based at The Nest in Addison, a community-centered wellness space where families can find support through pregnancy, postpartum, and family life. The Nest brings together holistic practitioners who share a commitment to supporting mothers, babies, and families through connection, education, and care.

I love collaborating with doulas, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, chiropractors, bodyworkers, mental health professionals, and other practitioners who serve families during their childbearing years. Motherhood was never meant to be done alone—it takes a village.

For those who want to support my work, I would simply encourage them to share the message that women deserve informed choice in maternity care. Every time a woman learns that she has choices and begins asking questions about her care, positive change happens.

You can learn more about Wise Womb Midwifery through my website and social media, but my favorite way to connect will always be over a hot cup of tea, heart to heart.
