Today we’d like to introduce you to United Barbers Club.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
United Barbers Club began as the Sacramento Barbers Club, founded by Master Barbers and shop owners Timmel Pittman and Lonnie Horne. Sharing a passion for the barbering industry, they recognized there was incredible talent within the profession but not enough opportunities for barbers to truly connect, learn from one another, and celebrate the culture that brings everyone together.
What started as a local movement quickly grew beyond anything they imagined. They began hosting educational classes, barber battles, Hair Jams, financial workshops, and community service events, all with the goal of helping barber and beauty professionals sharpen their craft while also growing as business owners, leaders, and entrepreneurs.
One of the biggest turning points came during the COVID-19 pandemic. While so many professionals were forced to close their businesses, they committed to going live every week on Instagram to keep the industry connected, motivated, and informed. Those conversations created a loyal following and eventually evolved into the For The Culture Livecast and For The Culture Podcast, where they’ve had the opportunity to interview everyone from hardworking professionals behind the scenes to some of the biggest names in the barber and beauty industry.
As their reach expanded, so did their mission. The organization evolved into the United Barbers Club because the vision became much bigger than one city. Today, the organization is focused on uniting barber and beauty professionals around the world through education, meaningful conversations, community service, live events, and strategic partnerships that help elevate the industry. What began in Sacramento has now grown into a global community, with relationships and collaborations extending to professionals in Spain, the United Kingdom, Trinidad, and beyond.
At the heart of everything United Barbers Club does is a simple belief: barbering is more than a career—it’s a culture, a community, and a legacy worth preserving. That belief continues to inspire the organization’s mission to educate, empower, and unite the industry while remaining, above all else, For The Culture.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but it has been a blessed one.
The truth is, United Barbers Club wasn’t created with some elaborate master plan or a specific end goal. It started from a genuine desire to serve the industry we love. Looking back, we’re still amazed by the doors that have opened, the relationships we’ve built, and the opportunities we’ve been given to make a positive impact on barber and beauty professionals around the world.
One of the greatest compliments we’ve ever received is when people in the industry refer to us as “the voice of the industry.” To hear that from peers and individuals we’ve admired for years is both humbling and motivating.
Like anyone else, we’ve experienced our share of personal and professional challenges. Life has brought moments of loss, unexpected obstacles, and seasons where balancing family, business, and our commitment to this movement wasn’t easy. We’ve also learned that when your platform begins to grow, not everyone will understand your intentions. While the overwhelming majority of people have embraced our hearts and our mission, there have been times when we’ve been misunderstood or even taken advantage of.
Even so, we don’t view those moments as setbacks. We see them as part of the process. Every challenge has strengthened our faith, sharpened our leadership, and reinforced our purpose. They remind us that this mission is bigger than either of us. The barber and beauty industry has given so much to our families and our lives, and we believe it’s our responsibility to continue giving back through education, mentorship, community service, and creating opportunities for others to grow.
When we look back, we wouldn’t change the journey. Every lesson, every challenge, and every victory has helped shape United Barbers Club into what it is today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about United Barbers Club ?
United Barbers Club is much more than a podcast or an event company—it’s a platform built to educate, connect, celebrate, and elevate barber and beauty professionals.
Education has always been at the heart of what we do. Through our signature presentation, “Launch Your Success & Definition of a Hair Professional,” we’ve spoken to barber and beauty schools across the country, encouraging students to think beyond simply cutting hair. We challenge them to develop the mindset, professionalism, and business habits that will help them build long, successful careers from day one.
Community service is another pillar of our organization. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas morning, we organize our Heat The Streets initiative, providing coats, blankets, socks, gloves, hygiene items, and other essentials to members of the homeless community. It’s our way of giving back to the communities that have supported us throughout our journey.
Our For The Culture Podcast has become one of the biggest catalysts for our growth. What began as a way to keep the industry connected during the pandemic has evolved into a respected media platform that has opened doors to partnerships, live event coverage, and opportunities to interview some of the most influential names in the barber and beauty industry.
One partnership we’re especially proud of is with Booksy. What started with podcast opportunities has grown into a true collaboration. They’ve recognized our ability to educate, entertain, and engage audiences, leading to opportunities to host live interviews on stage at major industry events like Barbercon and Premiere Orlando, create branded content, and represent their company in ways that extend far beyond traditional podcasting.
We’ve also been fortunate to become familiar faces at many of the industry’s largest events. From hosting live podcast experiences alongside the main stage at the Connecticut Barber Expo to serving as emcees, moderators, and event hosts for barber battles, trade shows, and educational events across the country, we’ve built a reputation for bringing energy, professionalism, and authenticity wherever we go.
One thing that truly sets us apart is our ability to create experiences that bring people together. Whether it’s through barber trivia, interactive games, live audience interviews, or simply creating moments that make people laugh, our goal is to make every event feel welcoming and memorable. We’ve watched complete strangers become friends, students meet mentors, and industry icons relax enough to simply enjoy being part of the community. That’s something we’re incredibly proud of.
More than anything, we want people to know that United Barbers Club exists to serve the industry. If we can educate one person, inspire one student, create one opportunity, or help strengthen the relationships within our profession, then we’re fulfilling our purpose. At the end of the day, everything we do comes back to one simple mission: uniting people, elevating the culture, and leaving the barber and beauty industry better than we found it.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
We’re always looking for ways to grow, both personally and professionally, so there are a few resources that have had a significant impact on us.
From a business standpoint, Booksy has been an incredible tool—not just for scheduling appointments, but for helping us better understand our businesses through reporting, client retention, marketing, and lead generation. It’s become an important part of how we operate our own businesses and support our teams.
When it comes to books, 10x Is Easier Than 2x by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy has completely changed the way we think about growth and focusing on what matters most. The Gap and The Gain has helped us appreciate the progress we’ve made instead of constantly chasing the next milestone, and Good to Great reinforced the importance of building organizations with strong values, leadership, and purpose.
Beyond books and technology, one of our greatest resources has been the relationships we’ve built within the barber and beauty industry. We’ve been blessed with mentors, peers, and friends who challenge us, encourage us, and aren’t afraid to give honest feedback. We try to do the same for others because we believe growth happens through genuine relationships and shared experiences.
Above all, our faith is our foundation. We pray, seek God’s guidance, and trust that He continues to open the right doors while keeping us focused on serving others. That perspective influences every decision we make, both in business and in life.
