Dan Bledsoe shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Dan, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve been enjoying the local Christmas light displays and taking photos of them – it’s been relaxing to enjoy the cooler air this time of year and the colorful light displays!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I do drone photography and videography, mostly at local car shows but I can capture footage of just about anything. Aerial photography provides a unique perspective that the hosts of the car shows can use to promote future shows, and attendees get value by seeing a unique perspective of their cars!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad, he taught me a great work ethic and that by working hard and learning and growing, good things will happen!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
It would have been easy to give up when I had just obtained my drone pilot’s license and nobody wanted me to fly for them. Rather than giving up I built up my skills, took photos in as many places as I could and built a portfolio to show how I can provide value with a drone. I never expected it to take me this far, but by being persistent and stacking up small wins it’s led to being able to fly at local car shows almost every weekend!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Work hard and continue to grow and good things will happen.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes – If I’m not going to give 100% then I shouldn’t be doing it. A big reason I’ve been successful is I’ve only chosen to pursue things I’ve been willing to put my best effort into it. If I’m not willing to do that then it’s clearly not my calling and I should put effort into something that is. Anything I put effort into is for a goal I want to reach rather than praise from others.
