We recently had the chance to connect with Jasmin Dice and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Jasmin , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Public speaking . Lately I’ve been called to speak publicly more often regarding my business and my journey. It’s something I used to cringe at the thought of and still do honestly, but there’s growth in uncomfortably.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jasmin Dice and I am the owner/founder of Arvana Kay Home Fragrances (previously known as Redolence Essentials Candle Company), located here in Dallas, Texas. The rebrand to Arvana Kay follows the passing of my great-grandmother Arvana and my grandmother Kay. Arvana Kay was built in honor of their lives.
Here at Arvana Kay, we hand pour soy-wax candles and create reed diffusers, wax melts and incense that are designed to elevate any space. With our colorful vessels and wood accents, we coin the term “grounded luxury”. The connection between luxury retail and intentionality. Our fragrances are composed with experienced craftsmanship and designed to feel like home.
We participate in many local events throughout the metroplex and currently searching for our first storefront! Ahh. How exciting!
Arvana Kay values community and legacy. When we’re not turning houses into homes, we in the community participating in local sponsorships and giveaways for those who share the same values and principles as us at Arvana Kay.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
In my opinion, communication. They say communication is key but they never talk about the many different layers of communication. There’s tone, delivery, timing, understanding, comprehension and so much more. That can make or break a bond and I’m learning that in real time. Communication also has the power to restore a bond. There’s power in vulnerability and communicating your thoughts, feelings and mindset at a certain point of time when things took place or disagreements come up. An apology can go a long way. A conversation can open up new layers of a bond.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell young Jas to stay true to herself. People can be very manipulative and will do/say anything to get what they want. Learn what your values are, figure out what you do/don’t stand for and stand on that. Keep God as the foundation and keep His principles as your anchor. You were never wrong about how you felt, just early. Trust your gut. Don’t let people make you doubt yourself. They always come back so stay true to you. People see your light but they may not always acknowledge it. The sun shines every day and people adapt, same for you <3
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, for the most part. I don’t know how to be anything else but myself. I hate public speaking so I may come off a bit timid in some settings. I have a very playful personality but it usually only comes out around people I’m comfortable with
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My character, integrity and dignity. I pride myself on being a decent, honest person that treats people with respect.
