Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada L. Armstrong, CEO of J-Flyy Apparel.
Hi Jada, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As I youth, I loved to dress up and entertain my family with songs and my version of dancing. My aunt Tarsha, who succumbed to Breast Cancer in 2013, actually gave me the name JFlyy. Over the years, not only did I embrace JFlyy, but decided I would honor her by using this as my platform to empower others.
Over the years, I would conduct t-shirt sales and other fundraising efforts to put the brand out there. Last year, with support from my mom and dad, I partnered with my brothers Jordan and JaCoby and we officially launched J-Flyy, Inc., an athletic/athletic leisure apparel company with a mission to increase empowerment through fashion and charity. With our collection of apparel and customizable sports team wear, I wanted to create a brand with a powerful logo that speaks to empowerment. J-Flyy is not just a brand, J-Flyy is a Lifestyle! – go check it out on our website!
Although I eventually would like to expand to offer all types of fashionwear, focusing on athletic leisure and team wear is allowing me the opportunity to increase awareness and networking. In November 2020, we partnered with Courtney’s Closet, a 501(C)3 non-profit organization, to provide turkeys to those in need. Next, we partnered a second time for the 1st Annual J-Flyy Holiday, which identified families/child(ren) in need “Angels” and with the support from several family members and friends, we sponsored close to 25 families. This was an awesome partnership and allowed me to learn more about the importance of charity.
As I prepare for my college journey, I accepted a full academic scholarship to Xavier University in Ohio, I am excited to have a foundation such as J-Flyy to help continue to advance me to a successful career, as the CEO of J-Flyy, Inc. Stay tuned as there is much more to come!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say it has been a ride! We officially launched before the pandemic. With the impact of COVID-19, we had to realign our marketing strategies to meet the current guidelines. Although the majority of our sales occur via online transactions, we became limited with face-to-face events, trade shows, and meetings. Many of our vendor partners, shifted their focus to items such as the crisis, which ultimately had an impact on shipping and receiving timelines. Overall, I feel if we can survive challenges such as a pandemic, we can survive a/any challenge.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently a high school senior student-athlete at Rockwall Heath High School preparing to embark on my next journey at Xavier University. It is funny as my current focus is around self-awareness. I had to take a step back and ensure my actions align spiritually, mentally, and physically. I am proud of the woman I am becoming and look forward to my continued accomplishments as a young entrepreneur. I am thankful to GOD to allow me to have parents that have always believed in me. I truly appreciate them building a positive “village” of family and friends who consistently support my brothers and me.
What sets me apart from others is my Discernment of energies, Loyalty, and Empowerment to others. Being around the RIGHT people, with the RIGHT energy is very important to my spiritual and mental growth. This positive alignment strengthens my motivation to empower and motivate others.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would like to say to all – YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO! Don’t let your circumstance(s) hinder your success. Take the time to create a plan, set realistic goals and work your plan. In addition, be mindful of who you allow in your circle. Not everyone is for you. People can come in your life as a blessing, a lesson, or a season. Allow only those who are genuinely for your success be in your circle.
