Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Guillén.
Hi Alan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I first got into photography back in 2012, just using my film camera. At the time, I didn’t have any formal training. I was simply drawn to capturing moments and visuals that told a story. Whether it was architecture, weddings, portraits, or cars, I found inspiration in everyday things. The creative process behind photography framing a shot, playing with light, and evoking emotion really hooked me.
What started as a hobby quickly grew into a passion. Over the years, I dedicated time to learning the craft, studying technique, and refining my style. Eventually, I turned my passion into a side business, and that’s when things really started to take off. Today, I’m grateful to be recognized in the DFW community as a trusted photographer, and I’m proud of the journey that’s brought me here. This is just the beginning..
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s definitely been a smooth road in some ways, but not without its challenges. In the beginning, it was tough to build a steady clientele and gain exposure. It took time, consistency, and a lot of networking to get noticed and start building those relationships especially with modeling agencies. One of my goals has been to become one of the go-to photographers for model digitals, and I’ve been working hard to make that happen.
What keeps me going is the fact that more people have started to recognize my work and support my vision. I’m truly grateful for that. It’s been rewarding to see the growth, and I’m excited to see where the next opportunity will lead.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Photography has been a meaningful side business for me alongside my career in the banking industry. While I’ve worked in banking for several years and enjoy helping clients with their financial goals, photography has always been a creative outlet that allows me to express myself in a different way.
I specialize in portrait, fashion, and lifestyle photography, and I’m most known for creating clean, professional visuals that tell a story whether it’s model digitals, personal branding, or editorial-style shoots. What I’m most proud of is the genuine connections I’ve built with clients and how much trust they put in me to capture their vision.
What sets me apart is my mindset. I’m always eager to learn and grow not just in photography, but in all aspects of life. Whether it’s exploring real estate, financial advising, or other ventures, I’m driven by the desire to keep leveling up. I’m passionate about creating, helping others, and building a future that’s both fulfilling and financially secure.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that consistency always beats perfection. In the beginning, I used to overthink everything waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect shot, or the perfect opportunity. But I’ve realized that showing up, doing the work, and staying committed, even when it’s not perfect, is what truly leads to growth.
I’ve also learned that relationships matter. In photography the way you treat people, the energy you bring, and the trust you build can open more doors than talent alone ever could.
