Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Von Holtum.
Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a Denver based vocalist, musician and entertainer. My current shows that I am leader/manager for are Amanda Vs Material Girl (Madonna Tribute), Princess and the Evolution – The Sounds of Minneapolis (a Prince Era Music tribute), vocalist amd keyboard player for She Bop a female pop duo and Bad Colorado, a tribute to Bad Company and the music of Paul Rogers. I also perform with the Corporation, a dance cover band and my own solo shows to include original music. I have been writing music and performing since I was 5 years old, and about 7 years ago decided to start my own tribute bands. With all the experience and mentorship I had soaked up, I felt like I could provide a great product/show to the public. I have a BS in Music with a vocal performance emphasis from the University of Colorado Denver. I can thank my mentors, my mom, and fellow musicians for getting me where I am today. Also, my 24 year military career is a very key factor in my discipline and a no quit attitude.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In Denver, where I started my Madonna Tribute, not a lot of people thought I could be successful, and create a show that people would respect and enjoy. I am hoping I’ve changed some minds. Also, with a full time career, and a family m, it can be a lot to juggle at times, but I love it so much. Having so many projects on my list, staying organized and focused is key.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I believe that experience is most important to be a great performer. I also am a classicly trained vocalist which has helped me preserve my voice, and I play piano and understand music theory. Im most proud of my passion for making the audience feel something, and connect with them. I talk to them – make them laugh. When they are responding, it is the greatest feeling. They are the most important person in the room.
What are your plans for the future?
Retiring from the military and taking my show on the road!
