Life & Work with Amy Mayorga of Dallas, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Mayorga.

Hi Amy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a child, I was always drawn to organized, beautiful spaces and anything related to the home (HGTV was — and still is — my favorite thing to watch). I just never imagined that passion could become my career.

After pivoting from my work as a speech-language pathologist to staying home with our young children, I quickly realized something surprising: I didn’t actually enjoy being in my home. It was filled with toys, clothes, and the constant visual noise of everyday life. There was always something to do, something to manage, something out of place. Over time, the clutter began to feel overwhelming — and I didn’t know where to start.

So I decided to go all in. I decluttered our home in what can only be described as a true purge, letting go of more than 50% of our belongings. And in the process, something shifted. I felt lighter. Clearer. Energized. I rediscovered a sense of calm within my own walls — and an inner passion began to grow.

I became inspired to help others experience that same transformation: not just in their homes, but in how they feel in their homes.

In 2019, I became a Certified KonMari® Consultant, trained by Marie Kondo, and have since reached the highest Master level certification in her program. I founded Minimalista Organizing to help others delegate their most valuable resource — their time — when it comes to decluttering and organizing.

Since then, we’ve grown into a team of professional organizers who share this same passion: helping people fall back in love with their homes. Our services have expanded to include move concierge support, because there is no greater time when families need professional, reliable, and expert help than during transitions — both in their old home and their new one.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that I cannot run a business on my own. In the beginning, I tried to do everything — client work, scheduling, sourcing, marketing, bookkeeping — all of it. And it quickly became clear that sustainable growth requires support.

Ironically, I had to learn to delegate in my own life the same way I encourage my clients to delegate in theirs.

Letting go of control wasn’t always easy, but building a team of trustworthy, competent, and incredible women has been one of the greatest blessings of this journey. They allow me to focus on the vision and serve our clients well, while knowing the details are being handled with care.

Growth has required humility, trust, and a willingness to ask for help — and that has ultimately made the business stronger than I ever could have built alone.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the founder of Minimalista Organizing®, a Dallas-based professional organizing company specializing in full-service decluttering, whole-home organization, move concierge support (including unpacking and organizing), and project management for custom space redesigns such as garages and closets. We help busy individuals streamline their homes so they can focus on what matters most.

While we absolutely create beautiful, functional spaces, what we truly specialize in is transformation — helping clients move from overwhelmed and overstimulated to calm and in control of their homes. My background as a Master-Level Certified KonMari® Consultant, trained by Marie Kondo, deeply influences our work. We don’t simply “tidy up” — we guide clients through intentional decision-making so their homes reflect the life they want to live and support them in this season.

We’re known for hands-off, elevated service. Many of our clients are navigating demanding careers, life transitions, and full schedules — they don’t want a DIY plan; they want it handled. After thoughtfully decluttering alongside our clients, we source products, implement customized systems, and ensure each space is both beautiful and easy to maintain.

What I’m most proud of is the team we’ve built. Minimalista Organizing® is made up of professional, trustworthy, incredibly capable women who care deeply about the people we serve. We’ve created a business that not only supports our clients at a high level, but also creates meaningful, flexible work opportunities for other women.

What sets us apart is the combination of emotional intelligence and execution. We understand that clutter isn’t just physical — it’s often tied to life seasons, identity shifts, and overwhelm. We approach every project with compassion, discretion, and a systems-driven mindset. The result isn’t just an organized home — it’s peace.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, we’re intentionally focusing on larger, whole-home projects and move-related support. In our experience, there is no greater time someone needs thoughtful, professional help than during a transition. Whether it’s preparing a home for a new baby, navigating the loss of a loved one, downsizing, or settling into a new space, these seasons carry both emotional and logistical weight — and having expert support can make all the difference.

We’re also expanding our organization-focused design services, including custom closets, garages, and other functional spaces. What makes this unique is that we don’t just design something beautiful — we ensure it’s built around how our clients actually live. We handle vendor coordination, product sourcing, space planning, layouts, and project management from start to finish, creating a seamless, hands-off experience.

As we grow, our goal is to continue refining our elevated, full-service model — offering thoughtful, high-touch support during life’s biggest transitions and helping our clients create homes that truly support their next chapter.
