Today we’d like to introduce you to Astra Morris.
Hi Astra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began after my divorce and I was sitting in the bleachers at my oldest son’s football game and trying to map out in my mind how my life would be as a single parent. I did not want my sons to see me as weak or unable to support them so I made the decision to re-enroll in college and once I received my acceptance letter from Arkansas State University-Jonesboro I knew that I wanted to complete my degree so I was setting an example to my kids that whatever obstacles they may face there is always a way to overcome them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has not been a smooth road…Try balancing children, classes and a full time job. There are never enough hours in the day to get everything done. My financial situation was also stressful because I was now living on my own with my single income but that did not reduce our needs as a family to include rent, a car note, utilities, groceries and please do not forget the money needed for my kids and their activities.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Trust Officer at a bank in Central Arkansas and I assist families with managing their estate planning needs to include trusts, insurance plans, retirement benefits, and management of trust owned assets to include businesses, real estate, oil and gas leases and etc…I’m proud to know that when I meet these clients I bring them a sense of trust and compassion so they understand that I want their wishes to be executed exactly as they have intended. I honestly feel that I was born with a high level of empathy so I always want to know what may be affecting the next person and how I can help to lift that burden.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I’m empathetic, kind, respectful and I am a great listener. I ask questions to ensure I’m meeting the needs of my clients and their families although I know how uncomfortable and morbid it can be to discuss plans for a time that they will not be present. I love for give my clients to understand that they will receive complete transparency from me and that I hold their best interests at heart.
