Life & Work with Austyn Kincaid of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austyn Kincaid.

Hi Austyn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Arlington tx. I went to Sam Houston high school. I became a mother at 18, and had my second child at 21. Since I was a young mother, the restaurant industry was the easiest route carrier wise initally. Which is what I did for most of my 20’s. Taking care of babies all day & bartending at night. After my daughter was born, a month later I lost my father to suicide. So I was caring for two while working and mourning my father. It was hard, and I didn’t have much time to heal, which led me to getting into an abusive relationship. I was with him for 3 years and almost lost my life to him. That’s when my life flashed before my eyes and I knew I needed to change. I left him, got a protective order & started going to esthetician school. I went to school 9am-5pm for 5 days a week, then going to work after. Once I graduated, 750 hours later, I was hired at Benefit Cosmetics boutique in Plano. This is what set me up for success. I learned how to perfect my services, how to communicate with clients and really blossom in my career. Unfortunately, after about 3 years of working there, they decided to close the doors, which led me on my next endeavor. I was able to open my own suite and take my own clients, and make my own decisions. I am now a business owner. I get to show my children how you can overcome anything life throws at you and can be whoever you want to be.
I have my children, the best boyfriend who truly cares about me, a house, a dog & a business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle was just believing in myself. When you go through so much in life, sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just pushing through, and knowing your worth, your heart & dedication will all be worth it in the end.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So I’m an esthetician. I specialize in eyebrows (lamination, waxing tinting), eyelash lifting (specifically Korean lash lifts), body waxing & spray tans. My favorite service to do right now is Korean lash lifts! I am most proud of the relationship I’m able to build with my clients. I truly care about every single one. If I go too long without seeing them, I will reach out to make sure they’re okay. They’ve become a part of my life.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’m not really sure. I strive to be the best I can be. To continue to learn and grow. I’m going to be honest, this isn’t where I saw myself 5 years ago. I couldn’t even see what was coming the next day. So just coming this far has been amazing. I’m sure wherever I am in the next 5-10 years, my current self will be proud and routing me on!
