Life & Work with Chibuzo Amajor of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chibuzo Amajor.

Hi Chibuzo , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been an artist since I was a child, starting off with drawing. As I got older, I started picking up painting and digital art. I have been doing art professionally since 2018.
In terms of music, I’ve been DJ-ing for 3 years. My interest in music also stems from childhood.
I mainly aim to use my art as a means of self expression & a way go spread joy.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The creative journey has had its ups and downs. One of my main challenges has been getting representation. As I continue to develop my craft, I aim to gain more gallery and museum placement.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In terms of visual art, I mainly specialize in acrylic & graphic design. The main soffit use for digital art is procreate. My artistic style can be defined as contemporary abstract. I like to draw inspiration from personal experiences, the diasporic experience, current events, music and nature.

Musically, I specialize in jazz, house, r&b & hip hop. I aim to create a cohesive set whenever I dj.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
There are several artists both within and outside of DFW that I highly regard. While working with them is always a pleasure, I am highly inspired by their work and appreciate their impact on the creative scan in the DFW.

In the Dallas space, Imani Black, Christina Hahn, Haley Leavett, Huey Dynamite, and Baseforyourface are some of the creatives who have helped and inspired my creative journey.

Outside of Dallas, Jewel Hamm, Bakari Sibert & DJ Naygod have been inspirational.

Through the individuals I’ve mentioned above, I’ve learned to develop my art, through practical techniques and presentation. I also appreciate the opportunities I’ve had to showcase my work.
