Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Waggle.
Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The career I have today isn’t the one I originally set out to build – and I’m grateful for that.
After graduating from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Advertising, I became a licensed realtor. I loved the idea of helping people find a place to call home while using my creativity to build a business of my own. However, as a recent graduate, I quickly realized I needed more stability and health insurance after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.
That realization led me into the new home industry, where I began my career in on-site sales. Less than a year later, I was offered the opportunity to join America’s #1 Builder, D.R. Horton.
My original plan was to continue in on-site sales with D.R. Horton Austin, but because there was a gap before a community became available, I stepped into an online sales role in the meantime. It didn’t take long for me to realize that online sales was a much better fit for both my physical and mental health.
After spending just shy of two years with the Austin division, I was given the opportunity to transfer to the DFW Central division and become its first Online Sales Agent, helping launch the division’s online sales program. I knew I was stepping into uncharted territory and carried the responsibility of proving the value of the role, but I was energized by the chance to build something from the ground up and help shape how we connect with buyers across the DFW Central division.
One thing I’ve learned throughout my career is that there can be a misconception about online sales – that it’s a step below on-site sales or requires less expertise. I hope my story helps challenge that perspective. I’ve worked as a Texas Licensed Realtor and as an on-site sales agent before intentionally choosing to pursue online sales. It wasn’t a role I settled for – it was the role I chose because it was the best decision for my health and aligned with both my strengths and my passion for helping people.
Today, I continue to work in online sales, where I have the privilege of being the first point of contact for many new homebuyers. I love that this role allows me to blend my passion for advertising and content creation with real estate. I also love that I’m able to help buyers across multiple communities rather than being limited to just one, allowing me to truly match people with the home and community that best fits their needs. Equally rewarding is building lasting relationships with our realtor partners and helping them find the right homes for their clients. Guiding people through what can often feel like an overwhelming process and making it feel approachable, exciting, and enjoyable is the most rewarding part of what I do.
I believe the path you didn’t plan is the one that leads you exactly where you’re supposed to be. Looking back, every step of my journey has reinforced that my passion isn’t just selling homes – it’s helping people navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. For years, I was financially unstable. I worked as a server, did photography on the side, and was trying to build a career as a brand-new real estate agent fresh out of college.
Even bigger than the financial challenges, one of the biggest obstacles I faced came shortly after purchasing my first home in Austin. It was one of the proudest moments of my life – something I had worked incredibly hard for and couldn’t wait to enjoy. Then, just two months later, my life took an unexpected turn, and I found myself leaving the home I had dreamed of owning and starting over from scratch.
As someone who works in real estate, buying my first home was a milestone that meant so much to me. I always imagined it would be the house I’d one day show my future children and say, “That’s where Mommy bought her first home.” The place where I planned to build my future and start a family suddenly became a place filled with painful memories.
Looking back now, I’m grateful for where that season led me. Starting over brought me to Dallas – a city I had wanted to call home for years. It also gave me the opportunity to join D.R. Horton DFW Central, where I’ve built incredible relationships, had the freedom to express my creativity, and grown both personally and professionally.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My role as an Online Sales Agent is often the very first step in someone’s homebuying journey.
I work closely with both buyers and realtors to understand what’s most important to them – whether it’s a specific payment, school district, commute, floor plan, or lifestyle – and help narrow down the communities and homes that best fit their needs.
I also partner closely with our on-site sales agents, helping take some of the day-to-day pressure off their plates so they can focus on what they do best: creating an exceptional experience for buyers in person.
Since I’ve only lived in Dallas for about a year, I’m still continuing to grow my network and build relationships with local realtors. One of the most effective ways I’ve been able to do that is through social media. I enjoy creating educational and engaging real estate content that provides value to buyers and agents alike, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see those online connections turn into meaningful professional relationships.
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is helping 121 families close on a new home during my first year in a brand-new city. Starting over meant building relationships from the ground up, learning a new market, and earning the trust of both realtors and my teammates.
How do you think about happiness?
As cliché as it may sound, my family means everything to me, and I truly value my friendships. My family and friends have celebrated my biggest accomplishments, supported me through difficult seasons, and constantly encourage me to become a better person. At the end of the day, success means very little if you don’t have the people you love to share it with.
Outside of that, I love photography because I enjoy helping people see themselves the way others see them. There’s something incredibly rewarding about making someone feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable in their own skin.
I also love going to concerts. There’s nothing like seeing your favorite artist live, making memories with friends, and experiencing new places. And if I’m relaxing at home, you’ll probably find me watching a true crime documentary or reality TV.
