Life & Work with Jamie Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Love.

Hi Jamie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a proud Oak Cliff native (Woodtown to be exact). I grew up watching my parents work hard to provide my brother and I a modestly comfortable life. I am a product of Dallas ISD (Lobias Christian Academy Private School, Birdie Alexander Elementary, D.A. Hulcy Middle School, and David W. Carter High School). I attended Texas A&M University-Commerce as a pre-law/political science major. After taking an introduction to Sociology, I quickly changed my major to Sociology. As an undergraduate I joined the Theta Nu Chapter of the Illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. It was during this time that passion for service expanded and I was a part of many philanthropic efforts that assisted those in need in the Commerce community. Helping others was instilled in me at an early age by my Mother. Serving comes natural for me.

I graduated in May 2000 with a degree in Social Sciences. I began my Social Worker career shortly afterward. Service to others has continued to be a running theme throughout my adult life. This is my Christian duty and for this very reason Epiphany Enrichment Programs, Inc. was established in 2014 to give back to the community. We provide dinner to kids from 1-18 years old at six sites in the Dallas metroplex. Throughout my professional career, I have worked for several local foster care agencies. That experience has allowed me to not only give back and help children in need but to be a consistent mentor in the children’s lives, while their familiar home life has been taken away from them. My role with Dallas County Advocate Center allowed me to work with families to assist with communication, establish family norms, and teach effective conflict resolution. I provided the same services in my role as Lead Family Resource Specialist with Region 10 ESC in the Head Start Division. My time collaborating closely with teachers motivated me to attain my teaching certificate as well as my Administrator License with DFPS.
In 2014, I started my teaching career with Dallas ISD and taught at Emmet J. Conrad High School, where I taught Introduction to Culinary Arts, Health and Wellness, Introduction to Business, Parenting to Teen Mothers, and Principles of Hospitality. After my programs were discontinued, I was blessed with an opportunity to teach at my Alma Mater, Carter High School. I had so many great teachers at Carter that were caring and poured into me that I wanted to provide the same experience to my students. In the very place that I learned so much and molded me into who I am now, I was able to do the same for some of my classmates’ children alongside some of the teachers that were motivational, still taught at Carter. I was blessed to be a teacher in the inaugural class of the Collegiate Academy teaching College Prep and AVID. It is a passion of mine to help prepare teenagers for the world and that is why Chatman Consulting Group was created in 2020 to provide my college boot camp and mentoring program to local students. I have had the opportunity to partner with numerous area school districts in which I provided test prep, college boot camp, and mentoring (She Thought She Could, So She Did).
In 2020, Jae Chatty’s Café was established with Fish Fridays and Soul Food Sundays. Those two days were such a success that we branched out to catering small corporate events, weddings, and later purchased a food truck. Jae Chatty’s Cafe has grown in its popularity and provides lunch and catering for corporate events, lunch to sports teams, and catering services for birthdays and weddings. We just had our first successful Pop-up Brunch called Brunching Around Bourbon Street, where we served a five-course meal which included Cajun Devilled eggs, Shrimp and Grits, Shrimp Po Boys, Beans and Rice, Mardi Gras Pasta, and Homemade Beignets!
As a single mother of five (two sets of twins and the oldest three are in college), I am the epitome of Black Girl Magic.
I am the Executive Director of Epiphany Enrichment Programs, Owner of Jae Chatty’s Café, LLC, in which we provide corporate and personal catering and food truck services, and President of Chatman Consulting Group LLC; where we provide mentoring programs, college boot camp, and an array of other programs.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Leaving the corporate world and becoming a full-time entrepreneur has not been an easy feat, my faith has kept me grounded and driven. Building my customer base and identifying my target customer has been a struggle. My family and friends have been very supportive with either hiring me or catering events or making referrals.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in personal touch and customization. We are not a cookie-cutter company and we treat each customer as family. We are known for our tasty fried fish and it’s been said that we have some of the best in the city, I am so proud that we have become a household name and we are being highly recommended by so many of our customers. I am proud of growing our feeding program under Epiphany Enrichment Programs, Inc. I have been that single parent whose children were participants of the food program. It was very helpful and I want to pay it forward to other families who are in need of assistance, especially with the steady rise in the cost of groceries.
How do you define success?
I define success in many ways. Success for Jae Chatty’s Cafe, LLC is booking corporate events for the month and an increased number of food truck bookings. Success for Epiphany Enrichment Programs Inc. is reaching more and more children and providing them with free dinner to assist families who are struggling in silence. The goal is to feed 500 children a day. Chatman Consulting Group, LLC success is growing the number of partnerships and increasing the number of lives that I have touched with my mentoring and college preparation. Success is each company running simultaneously and all are doing well while I still wear my hat as a supportive and hands-on single Mother of 5!
