Life & Work with John Cappello of Lantana

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Cappello.

Hi John, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Visionary Workshop, LLC was formed because my work, as a psychic, was becoming popular. It was apparent to me that I could develop an income strategy with my talent by producing books, workshops, private consultations, and live performances. It was the death of my father and his spiritual presence in his business that sparked my journey in the metaphysical field.

My father was believed to remain in one of his buildings after he died there. I investigated the matter, and it appeared to be valid. I was invited to take some psychic development classes, and this is when I learned I had talent. I was one of the top students in the classes.

I was approached by many in the psychic community for readings. It did not take long to develop a following for my work. I was reluctant to become a psychic because the work was just a hobby, but when it became apparent I could earn a living using my gifts, I formed the company.

The journey was not easy for me because I have an M. B. A. and wanted a career in business. It was unfortunate that my other business ventures were not producing the results I had hoped. I say that I became a psychic “kicking and screaming”. It was, however, the career where I was making progress.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I did not start my company for 15 after I started my journey as a psychic. The reason was that it was just a hobby. I wanted my professional career to reflect my education, and business abilities. I was an entrepeneur that had a difficult time raising capital.

My professional career was primarily in the food industry. In addition, I was involved in local City of Dallas politics. I upgraded a business association in West Dallas to be a Chamber of Commerce. I had success in both areas, but when I sold my food company in West Dallas, I no longer had a reason to promote the West Dallas area. The psychic work was left as a viable opportunity for a professional career.

It was my goal to stand apart from other psychics. I promoted myself as a “purist” because I did not use any tools such as tarot cards to give readings. I worked my public appearances in the pitch darkness for 11 years to demonstrate the authenticity of my gifts.

The business has changed through the years with the flood of new psychics in the field. They are gifted and talented, but it has made it difficult to be a full-time psychic with the level of competition. There are no barriers to becoming a practitioner, so virtually anyone can enter the business.

Psychics have an image problem because it is believed by many that the work is in some way evil. This has made my career controversial, but there is nothing evil or negative about the work I do. The work is only negative when a practitioner has evil intent. I do not personally know any psychic with a negative intent, and I only use my gifts to serve and help people.

This profession is like any other. There are good and bad people in it. I believe you have to research the psychic you want to read for you before you allow them to peer into the energy surrounding you. A psychic reading is a very personal and clients are in a vulnerable state when receiving information. It is a big responsibility for the psychic to be caring and compassionate.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in the purity of my psychic work. My concentration is on using the “clairs” for my psychic and mediumship abilities. I am known for reading the energy surrounding a client.

Clairsentience, clairvoyance, clairaudience, claircognizance, clairtangency, clair fragrance, and clair gustance are the gifts I use in my work. They are gifts that I help people discover within themselves.

I am proud to have been voted the #1 male psychic in the United States in 2017. My books have won at least 22 national and international awards. I have written ten books with a range of topics. They are psychic development books, a book on grief, children’s books with angels, and a Western novel.

YourTango.com has 40 nationally published articles. My work has appeared on Yahoo.com and MSN.com as well.

My work is set apart from others because of my range of abilities. I can make public appearances, perform as a radio talk show host, write books and articles, and teach about metaphysical topics.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I have many favorite memories, ranging from raising animals to winning academic awards as a child.
