Life & Work with Joseph Vargas Herrera of miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Vargas Herrera.

Hi Joseph , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Jotajoseph, and I’m a Colombian international runway model and digital creator. My journey started over 10 years ago through social media, where I began building my personal brand and connecting with people through content, fashion, lifestyle, and creativity.

Over time, my passion for fashion and modeling grew stronger, leading me to professionally pursue runway modeling around 4 years ago. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to walk in international fashion events and runway shows in cities such as Miami, Los Angeles, and New York, experiences that helped shape me both personally and professionally. Modeling in FDLA, Art Hearts Fashion week, The lab, and others…

Throughout my career, I’ve focused on combining creativity, discipline, consistency, and authenticity. I believe modeling is not only about appearance, but also about energy, confidence, presence, and the ability to inspire others through your story and individuality.

Recently, I was honored with the award for Best International Runway Model at the Premios Fénix 2026 in Medellín, and I am currently nominated for Best Model at Premios Nuestro Talento in Bogotá. These recognitions represent years of hard work, growth, and dedication to my craft.

Today, I continue expanding my career internationally while also using my platform to inspire others to believe in themselves, stay authentic, and pursue their goals with passion and discipline.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building an international career while coming from Colombia and trying to create opportunities in highly competitive industries like fashion, entertainment, and social media.

There were moments where I had to work extremely hard behind the scenes, stay consistent, and continue believing in myself even when things were uncertain. Traveling, adapting to new cities, handling pressure, rejection, criticism, and constantly reinventing myself have all been part of the journey.

Another challenge was balancing my career as a content creator while also being taken seriously as a professional runway model. Sometimes people only see social media and underestimate the discipline, preparation, and professionalism required in fashion and modeling. I had to prove myself through work, consistency, and performance on the runway.

At the same time, those obstacles helped me grow stronger mentally and professionally. They taught me resilience, confidence, adaptability, and the importance of staying authentic no matter the environment or circumstances.

Today, I see every challenge as part of the process that shaped me into the person and professional I am becoming.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of the things I like most about Dallas is the energy and ambition of the city. It feels like a place full of opportunity, growth, creativity, and diversity. I also appreciate how the city continues evolving in fashion, business, entertainment, and culture while still maintaining a strong sense of community.

As someone involved in fashion, modeling, and digital media, I admire the way Dallas supports entrepreneurship, networking, and creative industries. The people are welcoming, driven, and open to new ideas, which creates a very motivating environment.

If I had to mention something I like least, I would probably say that, like many large and fast-growing cities, life can sometimes feel very fast-paced and busy. It can be easy for people to get caught up in work and routines, leaving less time for balance and genuine connection.

Overall, I think Dallas is a city with incredible potential, strong culture, and many opportunities for people willing to work hard and grow.
