Life & Work with Lauren Casey of Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Casey.

Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is really about resilience- choosing not to give up, even when everything felt like it was falling apart.

In 2020, as the world shut down, my own life was unraveling. It was the perfect storm of personal life upheaval, survival, & world turmoil. I filed for divorce leaving an unstable and unsafe marriage, I was the primary parent of 6 kids 12 and under. I had been a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom for 15 years, with no college degree and no traditional work experience since I was 19. At 35 I was literally starting my life from scratch, but with a lot of baggage and a lot of confused, hurting kids.

We had to leave our home, our community, our church, the only family we had locally- and start over completely on our own. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life. I worked four jobs just to make ends meet. My older kids helped care for the younger ones, and there were times I barely saw them awake except in the early morning before school. Looking back, I’m not entirely sure how we made it through- but we did.

Through that experience, my goal became clear: I wanted to heal, help my children heal and thrive, and I wanted to help others who had experienced trauma or abuse have hope & find their way back to themselves with renewed self confidence and tools for navigating life stress.

As I began my own healing journey, I became deeply interested in how trauma impacts the nervous system. How it shapes our thoughts, emotions, physical health, and overall experience of life. I initially worked in trauma-informed personal training, but I started to notice something important: many clients were still operating in survival mode. Even though exercise is considered “healthy,” they were pushing their bodies in ways that reinforced stress patterns rather than resolving them.

That realization changed everything for me. I saw that healing wasn’t about doing more or pushing harder, it was about slowing down, learning to feel, and allowing the body to be heard. That insight led me into somatic healing and massage therapy, where I could support people in a deeper, more sustainable way.

Now, six years after that season of upheaval, my life looks very different. My children are thriving. I have an amazing partner that I’m so thankful to do life with every day. I’ve built a practice that I care about deeply- I’m living my dream of helping others reconnect with themselves, heal, and regulate.

My passion is helping people understand their nervous system and recognize the power they already have within them to heal. I truly believe that healing and thriving are possible for anyone—I’m just here to help them along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
15 year dysfunctional marriage, abuse, church abandonment, family & friend abandonment, 4 jobs, 6 young kids, moving from farm to city life, going from fundamental homeschool way of life to public school, 2020 shutdown, no community, complete upheaval of everything about our lives, healing while being the solo parent of 6 children who were also hurting and trying to help them heal as well. Financial & time strain to get education while working and providing for kids.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a somatic practitioner and massage therapist specializing in nervous system regulation, education, and massage therapy. My work centers on helping people reconnect with their bodies in a way that feels both transformational and sustainable—bridging the gap between physical care and emotional well-being.

What I’m most proud of is developing programs and materials that meet clients where they are, without adding pressure or overwhelm. Rather than asking people to push past their limits, my approach emphasizes working with the body—gently building awareness, capacity, and trust over time. Education is a key part of that process, giving clients the understanding and tools they need to feel more in control of their internal experience.

My work is deeply informed by both professional training and lived experience, which has shaped my ability to recognize how stress and adversity show up in the body. In sessions, I pay close attention not only to what’s being said, but to the subtle, often overlooked cues—changes in breath, posture, tone, and movement—that offer insight into the nervous system’s state.

Clients aren’t simply receiving a service; they’re gaining a new relationship with their body. The work creates space for them to feel seen and supported, while also equipping them with the tools to regulate, respond, and move through life with greater clarity and confidence.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I have 6 kids (and now 2 bonus kids as well!) We have a very full house (and yes, I am tired! Ha!)- the nervous system regulation tools that I teach others help me every single day in my own house!
