Today we’d like to introduce you to Malik Jefferson.
Hi Malik, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Malik Jefferson I was born and raised in Mesquite Texas. I am a son a brother out of three the youngest and I had to give the examples in front of me credit because I could’ve been a fool. I was the highest rated linebacker in 2015 in the nation. I received the Dick Butkus award in 2015 for the best linebacker in the country.
I had the opportunity to go to any school but chose the University of Texas (best school on the planet.) I was able to receive awards as freshman newcomer, all big 12 team,and all American team. My sophomore year is when adversity came. I still rose to the occasion because my teammate meant everything to me, but that was the first time I found out about mental health. My proudest moment when I feel like I became a man is when I ask for help. After getting my alignment with my faith and life together, I was able to be the best version for myself family and teammates. My junior year was defensive player of the year for the big 12 and also was on the big 12 all academic team. I left UT to pursue my dreams in the NFL where I have played for seven years. During that time I’ve created a foundation called Malik‘s helping hand, and we’ve created and changed more lives that we can imagine. That’s the beauty and the joy in living is changing someone’s heart mind and spirit. I am who I am believer and follower of the most high and I let him guide my steps every day. I am Malik Jefferson.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been as smooth as I thought it would be. The overload the stress lack of time & time management, the reality of my Football life and my personal life. I thought my life would be completely different but it’s not and I enjoy the process that God is giving me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The best thing in life is creation. One of my favorite things to do is to cook because I get to create. I have a podcast that I like to do on the side because I get to create. Not only do I get to create, I get the opportunity to create relationship relationships with old friends and new friends. You can find the podcast on YouTube called choppingitup withMalikj and also on Instagram. I serve as brand ambassadors for Arctic zone, BA scopes, Zeya, and many more to come! My passion about football has led me to help people by building their businesses and also bringing on some of my NFL friends to help build the business. We also invest or find a way to help build the company to its target audience. New image innovations is my best friend‘s business in Real Estate. I’ve been learning and understanding what he’s doing so I can create and partner with him and we can help build DFW and change lives at the same time time. What text me apart as I’m adaptable and I like to be a leader and understand the full capacity of my role and how I can change and help others lives. I am most proud of how I compose myself and let God show me what I need to see, instead of becoming my own God and trying to control everything.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned has been only you know the truth about whatever it is going on. You have to be honest with yourself and not lie to yourself. Once you understand that and live like that your life and perspective will change.
