Hello, my name is Maya Gist.
I founded Dream 2 Journey to help people experience the world in a purpose-driven way. Travel has always been a passion of mine, but for a long time, I wasn’t fully committed to my business. When I first launched Dream 2 Journey a couple of years ago, I struggled with consistency and passion—honestly, because I didn’t have God at the center of it. After stepping away, I felt led to rebrand- not just as a travel agent but as someone who helps make travel more accessible than people realize.
Whether it’s a relaxing getaway, a romantic trip, or a family or friends’ adventure, I absolutely love being the bridge between someone’s dream trip and their journey to get there.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not! One of my biggest struggles was balancing my full-time job and personal responsibilities while trying to grow my business. I was dedicating more time to my 9-5 and not living out the purpose and plans that God has for me.
I had to shift my mindset from just booking trips to truly serving my clients.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a travel professional that specializes in vacation packages to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America, as well as personalized travel planning. I provide customized itineraries, travel deals, and seamless booking services.
I’m most proud of the trust my clients have in me. When someone comes back and tells me their trip was better than they imagined, that’s what keeps me going. It’s more than just a business; it’s about creating memories that last a lifetime.
What sets me apart is that I curate experiences with purpose. As a Christian travel agent, I prioritize building integrity through personalized service, ensuring that every journey aligns with my clients’ desires, while finding them the best prices.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
One of my biggest risks was quitting a toxic job in the middle of navigating my business. I didn’t have everything figured out, but I knew that if I stayed, I wouldn’t be walking in my purpose. That decision forced me to bet on myself 100% and take my business seriously. Looking back, it was necessary and the best decision I made.
Risks require you to step outside of comfort zones, learn from failure, and trust God’s plan by walking by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) I’ve learned that risk-taking is about believing in the vision God gave you, even when you can’t see the big picture.
