Today we’d like to introduce you to Randy Valdez.
Hi Randy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Randy, known to the music scene as DJ Elements, has a long and highly successful track record of turning packed venues into a late-night, beat-bumpin’ frenzy. Drawing deeply from his parents Jalisco and Zacatecas Mexican roots, Randy brings a seamless, high-energy bilingual experience to the dance floor. However, his ability to blend genres and cultures extends far beyond his Latino heritage. Over the years, he has built a truly global clientele, expertly curating unforgettable, packed dance floors for Bengali, Greek, Indian, Italian, and Filipino weddings and celebrations, just to name a few.
This cross-cultural expertise makes him a highly sought-after talent in the private event space. Having flawlessly performed at over 200 weddings in the last five years, Randy consistently earns endless rave reviews for his ability to connect with any audience.
His mastery of beats, rhythm, and musical technique first started in 1999 as a member of the MacArthur High School drum line. By 2000, he took his talents to the mobile DJ circuit, quickly building his reputation as a crowd-commanding showstopper. In 2004, he entered the world of FM radio as a mixer for KNON 89.3 FM, soon taking over the airwaves to host his own four-hour show and reigning as a highly acclaimed fan favorite for three years. Randy’s competitive edge is just as legendary. His impressive accolades include winning the 2010 DFW King of the Streets DJ Battle, claiming the 2012 Ojos Locos Sports Bar DJ Battle, and standing out as a finalist in the prestigious SXSW Last DJ Standing Battle against the top talent in Texas.
When he isn’t curating the perfect soundtrack for a couple’s big day, Randy’s heart belongs to his family. In 2015, he married his soulmate, Cindy, in a beautiful destination wedding in Tulum, Mexico. Following their adventures traveling together, they welcomed a beautiful daughter in 2017 and a handsome baby boy in 2019. The family currently resides in Haltom City, Texas.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
particularly a smooth road, nowadays the obstacle is balancing the family time with the work life balance. I also work in healthcare as a biomed technician supporting a level 1 hospital and the critical care departments that serve the people in Tarrant county at JPS hospital.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I recommend people putting their feet on the ground and offer to help others in the field you want to be in and offer to assist without pay and the things and processes you will learn will be some of the most valuable in your dj career.
