Life & Work with Toriano Beasley of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toriano Beasley.

Hi Toriano, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m originally from St Louis, Missouri born and raised. Never wanted to be and actor, I wanted to play football but after that didn’t go as planned I just started working and slowly figuring out life. After years of living in St Louis, I relocated to Dallas at the age of 20, I went back to college at Mediatech Institute where I studied Digital Arts/Cinematography. After graduating in 2017, I worked as a local videographer and editor in Dallas. I once even did some camera work for Grammy award winning singer, Erykah Badu. When the pandemic ended, I felt like I outgrew Texas and wanted to explore options so I began taking trips, to Atlanta in particular where I discovered the film industry was. In the year 2023, I decided to make the move to Atlanta to become and actor, not having an agent, no headshots, insights on the business, connections etc. I just wanted to go for it. Being in Atlanta the first few years weren’t tough. I went back to Dallas to stay with my Mom for 6 months after a break up, moving back sleeping in my car for 8 months etc. It’s all been worth it and a learning experience which has also made me stronger. I’ve been able to be on set with some of the best in the business that I’ve watched since a child and learn a lot. Also have been on T
STARZ, TVone, TUBI, PEACOCK etc. featured in some of great movies, tv shows and a couple commercials. This is only the beginning, it’s more to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggles along the way are being away from my family and adjusting to a new city alone. Besides that the ride is just getting started, not so smooth, a few bumps but nothing I can’t handle.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actor. My most notable work is “Gwop” in Angel & Demon. I’m most proud of me moving to Atlanta to do something I now love. What’s sets me apart is that there is a limited edition version of me that’s only once in a lifetime.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 10 years I see the industry moving more towards an independent route but going back to the old school way of doing things like maybe drive ins being more modernized. Most of the films will be in the south and maybe parts of the Midwest. Los Angeles seems to maybe fizzle out as a major hun for films.
