Life & Work with Xaviera Lee of Dallas/Grand Prairie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xaviera Lee.

Hi Xaviera, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In January of 2024, I noticed that Valentine’s Day was approaching. I’d sold Boo Baskets that previous Halloween and they did pretty well. However, I was ready to officially launch a business with a full list of services. I decided that I wanted to experiment making glitter roses so that I could sell them as well. I went to a local store in my college town and purchased roses, glitter, and spray glue. I made my first ever bouquet in the back office of my job. I posted them on one of our school’s social apps and the orders started coming in. On February 2, 2024 I officially launched my business “Lux Xchange”. I did extremely well that Valentine’s Day and from there I tried my best to keep the momentum going. That spring semester I did bouquets for the AKA probate, the Delta Sigma Theta Probate, the Sigma Gamma Rho probate, the Grambling State University Calendar Girl Pageant, and Spring Commencement. The motivation behind my business has been to make people feel loved and feel like the most special person on this earth.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What started off as a lot of momentum began slowing down as I progressed towards earning my degree. I had to make graduation my main focus and because of that the orders slowed down. When I relocated back home to Dallas after graduation the orders halted. I received a few orders but my main clientele was in Louisiana.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
For me, Lux Xchange is a way to let my creativity flow. I love when someone requests a specific theme or allows me to use my creativity to make something that exceeds expectations. Although I am known for bouquets. There have been occasions where I have created acrylic paintings for someone or created a mini wardrobe for a baby shower. I feel that what sets me apart from others is the love and passion that I put in to my work. I treat every bouquet or basket like it is a blank canvas waiting to be utilized for something great. I just want to make whoever the gift is for feel like it was custom made with love.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have not necessarily found a mentor but I did search Tik Tok and Instagram for businesses like mine around the country. I have studied their content, pricing, order process, and what they offer to see how I can build my business to their level. There was one page I followed when I first launched and the technique I noticed the owner using was creating several videos from one bouquet that they made. That helped me immensely. I used that my first year of business. When I was receiving a lot of orders I made tons of videos and saved them so that no matter how business is doing I have content ready to share.
