Hi Adriana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Adriana Martinez Grau. I am from Bogota, Colombia, and I’m a professional business administrator. I worked for 20 years at L’Oréal Colombia in marketing and trade marketing, which is why the beauty world has always captivated me. After the pandemic, I left the company and started working as a consultant in furniture and accessories. I also created designs that I shared with my closest friends to help make their homes look more beautiful. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for interior design, realizing that it also has connections to the world of beauty.
Three years ago I moved to Texas and despite starting to work in the financial sector of a service company, I never gave up on my dream of starting an interior design company. At the end of 2023 I took action and established Grau Studio Interior Design. Our main objective is to revitalize spaces, creating not only beauty and functionality, but most importantly, happiness for the people who inhabit them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business is not easy, and it does not happen overnight. It has been a challenging journey that requires a lot of patience, resilience, and perseverance. You should always work on making yourself known, finding the right clients, and creating a need in the market. For me, the goal of my company is not just about creating beautiful homes; It’s about making our clients feel at peace, happy, and in their safe place.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The inspiration for my work came from a real-life story about someone dedicated to interior design. Her name is Maria Parra, the founder of Styly Home, and her story resonated with me. She encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and pursue my venture. In terms of networking, the key is to share what you do with everyone you know. Speaking directly to people can greatly help you connect with potential clients.
