Meet Alicia Fike of The Kintsugi House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Fike.

Hi Alicia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! I’m Alicia and I own a little healing space in Uptown Dallas called Kintsugi House. I started Kintsugi House because I couldn’t find a counseling practice that I wanted to go to, somewhere accessible with down-to-earth practitioners that spoke my language, where I could be myself. Instead of a cold, intimidating office setting, I wanted to create an atmosphere that felt like coming to your best friend’s house. I wanted to create a place that offered creative ways for people to learn about their minds and be part of a community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned on the journey of starting Kintsugi House has been surrender and trust that the universe has my back; that the things in life that are supposed to happen will happen, that the pieces will fall into place, that the people that are supposed to be in your circle will show up, that the finances will come through. Nothing happened immediately, and it didn’t happen the way that I thought it would, but I stayed open-hearted and open-handed and trusted that the universe/God/spirit had my back. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve worked my butt AND my soul off, and I had an amazing team of people around me that kept me going.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Kintsugi House, we believe that you are your own best healer. We pride ourselves on shaking things up. We’re not like any other mental health practice. We know that old methods need to change if we’re going to break the stigma around mental health, and we want to be a part of that change. Regardless of what you have experienced in your life, we offer an array of services to help you reconnect to you.

Nestled within the Uptown, our stylish and peaceful office offers a sanctuary from the busy outside world. Arrive early and linger awhile. We don’t want to be your traditional counseling center where you are rushed out the door and back into the world after your session is over if you aren’t ready to do so. We invite you to linger in our meditation area to journal about what was brought up in your session, meditate, or read.

We offer book clubs, feminine embodiment groups, and other classes taught by local health experts to help our clients experience all of the healing modalities that are available.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
I grew up on a small horse farm right outside Sydney, Australia. We had a stream that ran through the back of our property, and when I was about ten, I found a platypus that had just delivered a litter of babies! All baby animals are cute, but I think baby platypus may take the cake.
