Meet Aliena Davis of Precision Chiropractic in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliena Davis.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After moving to Texas from Alaska (yes, Alaska! And yes, it’s cold.) to attend chiropractic school in Dallas and swearing I would be on the first plane back to Alaska after graduation, here I am nearly seven years later – happily living in Fort Worth with my husband and running an exciting new business. How did that happen?

Thanks to a few passionate professors in grad school, I discovered that I wanted to focus on pregnancy and pediatric care.

In addition to the base curriculum averaging 30 (yes, 30) credit hours per term, I started taking extra classes outside of school to learn more about pregnancy and pediatric care.

If you’re wondering, yes – I lived on coffee for several years, and no – my sleep cycle has still not returned to normal. My passion for pregnancy and pediatric care was born of a desire to maximally impact the health of future generations. Rather than attempt to reverse years of damage in adults, it made more sense to me to focus on facilitating healthy pregnancies, births, and infancies – thereby setting our next generation up for success in terms of health and well-being.

In my pursuit of facilitating this healthy future generation, I realized I had a knack for connecting folks to the resources they need. See, it takes more than one cook in the kitchen – so to speak – to help ensure a healthy pregnancy, delivery, and infancy. Every patient and their family is different. This fact requires the ability to recognize what a patient needs to take them from where they are to where they want to be, and to connect them to those resources.

This is how Precision Chiropractic was born. After recognizing the need for this collaborative care, my husband and I chose to open our first clinic together.

We chose the southwest corner of Fort Worth because this area is really growing and catering to the health-conscious families that we serve – from the new Whole Foods at the Waterside development to the weekly fitness classes held at The Trailhead and the bike-friendly streets and trails – this is a great area to live if you’re passionate about your health and well-being.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
While it’s been a wonderful adventure to establish and develop this company, like all good things it hasn’t come easy.

In addition to the challenges of being a first-time business owner, there are the challenges of being a small operation at first – entrepreneurs often wear several different hats at one time. Thankfully, my husband and I tend to complement each other quite well, both as individuals and as business owners, and between the two of us, our strengths and weaknesses balance out.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Precision Chiropractic story. Tell us more about the business.
At Precision Chiropractic, we focus on Structural Correction during pregnancy, postpartum, and infancy. This approach is different from most other healthcare options, including traditional chiropractic because we focus on correcting the primary condition of structural shift which can contribute many common secondary conditions such as headaches, round ligament pain, and even some latch-related breastfeeding difficulties in infants.

In addition to our family friendly, inclusive, and conveniently located office, we are proud of the network of resources with which we are connected.

We know that while our care is a very important part of your healthy pregnancy, birth, and your child’s infancy – many times the things we do in our office may need to be supplemented with the work of another specialist.

What that means for you is that we stick to what we know and do best, and we refer you to the appropriate provider(s) for everything else, and we will never judge you for any of your healthcare choices.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
While I have certainly worked hard to make the most of the opportunities I’ve encountered, I’d be remiss not to note the privileges that have allowed me to encounter many of these opportunities. From supportive parents who always encouraged my ambitions early in life to an exemplary public school experience with dedicated teachers, and access to higher education and financial options, it is my opinion that making the most of these opportunities is the least I can do to make a positive impact on my community and the world.
