Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Schenk.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Amy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I remember always having a camera in my hand; from my 110mm film camera as a young child to the new Advantix camera in my preteens. As technology grew so did my desire to own the latest and greatest camera especially once my first child was born. Documenting everything was very important to me. Then, soon after I had twins the digital camera was born and the ability capture more exploded. Once all my children got involved in sports, I found myself not only capturing my own children during their games, but capturing other team mates in action. Shortly after each game, Id share the images with all the parents. In 2006, I found myself getting requests for family photos so much where I had to decide and turn a need into a business and that’s when ACTS Photography was born.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not having a background or previous business knowledge has been one of many challenges for me in running my business. I constantly step out of the “photographer” role and dig deep into studying business. There’s branding, marketing, accounting and so much more to learn. And just like technology, the way businesses grow, is through a changing market. You must constantly evolve in all aspect of your business and stay current to be successful.
ACTS Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
ACTS Photography stand for the initials of my Full name. Amy Christine Terrell-Schenk. I am a freelance traveling photographer photographing the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond.
Currently, ACTS Photography specializes in high school seniors, boudoir, pinup & wedding photographic services. ACTS clients experience full-service custom photography. I know my clients want portraits they can treasure and pass down for generations to come. And knowing this is the reason why I offer a vast array of final art pieces from prints, wall-art, albums and more.
ACTS Photography LLC is an active member of PPA (Professional Photographers of America) & Texas Professional Photographers Association and ranks the Dallas A-List’s top 3 portrait photographer for 2016.
