Meet Andre Whatley of Your Chef Dre in Addison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Whatley.

Andre, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my business around November of 2017 selling plates to teachers at Patrick Elementary. The teachers there started spreading the word about how good my meals were, and I was able to build a clientele from their referrals. With customers coming in to purchase single plates, I decided to start selling meal preps. With the meal preps, my focus was on making healthy eating more flavorful & available. I am where I am today due to offering affordable prices, providing flavorful meals, and tailoring to everyone needs.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to where I am now wasn’t as smooth as I thought it would be. The one thing I struggled with was networking. I had a hard time getting myself out there to mingle and meet new people. Since being in Dallas, I have become comfortable with attending more events and promoting my brand.

Please tell us about Your Chef Dre.
Your Chef Dre, LLC is a culinary service that offers cooking lessons, catering, in-house services, and meal planning for healthier living styles. I specialize in healthy eating, I am known for providing a variety of options for healthy meal plans from keto to vegan, and I accommodate dietary restrictions. What I am most proud of is that I can provide healthier, flavorful options for my customers. What sets me apart from others is that I offer affordable prices, consistent menu changes for those who do not like eating the same things, and I make ordering my meals easy.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory would be growing up watching my grandparents cooking every holiday and for Sunday dinners. Growing up, home cooking was something we always expected on Sundays. I remember my first time cooking was helping my grandfather making the mac and cheese for Thanksgiving. Sprinkling cheddar cheese on top to brown the top was my favorite moment. After that, I slowly fell in love with being in the kitchen, and I decided to attend culinary school.
