Meet Anteshia Burks of Dallas Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anteshia Burks

Hi Anteshia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From a young age, I always knew I wanted to help people. Growing up in and out of hospitals due to sickle cell disease, I admired how doctors and nurses worked together to make me feel better. Despite my creative inclinations, it took some time to find my path, but eventually, it found me. Shortly after graduating high school, I ventured into modeling. Unique among my peers, I always brought my own makeup kit and often did my makeup on the go before photo shoots and fashion shows, even though makeup artists were provided.

One pivotal day, a makeup artist didn’t show up, and everyone looked to me. Nervous but determined, I did the models’ makeup for the photo shoot. This experience led to me becoming a contracted makeup artist for Mahogany Queens Management. This opportunity opened the door for me to join Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School, where I earned my license.

From there, I launched my business, Cosmetics Paramedic, a vision that came to me in a dream—a gift from God. Today, I am the proud owner and founder, with an LLC and trademark for Cosmetics Paramedic. I am known as the Beauty Doctor, curing my patients of any GLAMERGENCYS they may have. Our team of beauty responders specializes in editorial, event, and bridal makeup and hair, and we were recently featured on Texas Live Channel 5 News as an up-and-coming business.

I am dedicated to giving back to my community. I have started two nonprofit organizations: Warmth for the Homeless, where I collect warm items from my community and distribute them among the less fortunate, and a new venture called Beauty in Crisis, offering complimentary makeup services to those battling sickle cell disease. Putting a CAUSE in COSMETICS, this nonprofit is close to my heart, having lost my grandmother at the age of 10 and my little brother three years ago to the disease.

At Cosmetics Paramedic, our mission is to provide exceptional beauty services and products that not only transform appearances but also uplift spirits. Inspired by the dedication of medical professionals and driven by my personal experiences, we are committed to delivering care, confidence, and happiness to every client.

We are now partnered with Blo Blow Dry Bar, and I am preparing a presentation for Dubiski Career High School to launch an internship program, showing the younger generation the numerous opportunities in the beauty industry.

My journey from personal challenges to entrepreneurial success is a testament to the power of determination and the desire to make a difference. Cosmetics Paramedic is not just a business; it’s a mission to bring beauty and hope to those who need it most.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles was dealing with the unpredictability of my health due to sickle cell disease. As well as losing my brother and grandmother from the same illness. There were also financial struggles in the beginning, as starting a business requires significant investment. Additionally, gaining recognition and building a client base took time and a lot of effort. However, these challenges taught me resilience and determination, which have been crucial in my journey.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a mobile beauty responder specializing in editorial, event, and bridal makeup and hair. I’m known for my personalized services and my ability to handle any “GLAMERGENCYS” my clients might have. My dedication to customer satisfaction and professionalism sets me apart. I also have my own cosmetic line featuring organic essential oil-infused lip glosses and matching lip scrubs, which I formulated myself. Additionally, I offer magnetic lashes, 3-D mink lashes, pigmented Lippies pill plumpers for fuller lips, and paramedic protection chains.

I’m most proud of starting my business, Cosmetics Paramedic, and turning it into a recognized brand. Being featured on Texas Live Channel 5 News and partnering with Blo Blow Dry Bar are some of my proudest achievements. My nonprofit work, such as Warmth for the Homeless and Beauty in Crisis, also holds a special place in my heart.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Consistency is key. If I had stayed true to my dream and purpose without detours, I believe I would be even further along in my journey.
