Meet Atavian Blakely of Poetic City in Oklahoma City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Atavian Blakely.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Atavian . So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
2014 was when I started writing poetry, I wanted to be an author before anything else. 2016 was the first time I touched a stage in Arlington Tx, performing poetry at Natty Roots open mic. Every since then I been chasing my first round of applause. I moved to Oklahoma in 2017 and gained several poetic friends into my circle. I reunited with a high school friend named Anthony Thomas. He had this amazing cannon camera, so I begin writing scripts to my poetry and developing poetic videos for myself produced by Anthony brand KTIII Productions. Which lead us to a beautiful day were I invited 7 different ladies out to Elder Lyon park in OKC. I had each lady perform a piece of poetry, as I directed the flow of the scenes. I don’t think anyone will ever duplicate that amazing energy on the top of that hill, after we produced that video shoot into my first collabortive cypher. I knew I had a bigger calling with the artist in my community. I asked those ladies as well as several other poets and others to join my brand called Poetic City. A brand for those who felt like underdawgs or tired of being slept on talent rise. I wanted to give everyone the same opportunity others wouldn’t give me and that’s a shot at working with others, proving that you are built for this cultural movement as well. June 13th 2018 Poetic City had started and we been blazing stages, developing artist, transitioning into authors, and reaching out as a beacon of light in out community.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly starting with nothing giving to us and being blessed with everything flowing our way now, I won’t say smooth but our work ethic can’t be ignored. The biggest struggle I worried about was an organization the size of ours sticking together, well I must admit the love and vibes are alot more stickier in our circle. The Poetic City family remains strong, loyal, and together. I don’t need the road to be smooth when I got them in my corner.

Poetic City is high energy and highly inclusive performance arts entity that supports all forms of creative expression. We recognize that love and ambition comes in all shapes and sizes, we coordinate and promote professional platforms for those seeking a creative outlet for their passion. If your interested in being apart of a family where being different is celebrated, where spirits sour and souls are uplifted then follow or join Poetic City. We are more than just a house hold name we are a movement that inspires others to take care of their own.

Poetic City currently has 28 members filled with poets, authors, music artist, painters, videographers, and graphic designers.

We are known for our videos on YouTube and Facebook, live performance like PC Dramas and open mic Nights, and also known for using our platform to target change in our community.
As a company we are most proud that we keep expanding and growing, and the talent level of these artist is definitely evolving.
What set us apart from everyone is we are the ultimate networking machine when it comes to art. No one else will provide you as much in one package as we can.
