Meet Ayo Hinson of The Eyeo Photography in Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayo Hinson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ayo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started taking pictures at a very young age. My mom and grandmother enjoyed photography as a hobby so there was always a camera I could use. My mom was impressed with the pictures I would take, which resulted in her buying me my first digital camera in middle school (I still have it!). I quickly realized that photography is something I love doing and wanted to make a career out of.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have had a pretty smooth road considering the support I have from my friends and family. A challenge for me has been balancing school, work, and other commitments while trying to actively start a business. Now that I have graduated, I have a lot more time to focus on being creative.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My business is photography and I specialize in portrait photography. I am most proud of being able to turn something I love into my job. I think what sets me apart from others is my creative process. I like to allow the client be involved in the process if they choose to do so. I found that bouncing ideas off of each other allows them to get exactly what they want out of the experience and final product.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think I have had good luck with running into the right people. A friend of mine (Giuliana), who is also a photographer, has been very helpful in my process and has given me essential mentorship and support. I have been able to network with other photographers and expand my clientele.
