Meet Brandon James Rose of RoseGold Apparel in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon James Rose.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brandon James. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love for artwork and the color rose gold started at a young age while growing up in London, England. I was always drawing or creating something new, but never pursued my creative side until a decade later while living in Dallas, Texas. Starting with photography on a family trip to Alaska in 2016, I landed on the name RoseGold Photography to label my pictures. At the same time I was working with a fashion startup out of Houston through which I met several manufactures. Within the same week, I spotted a rose gold watch that I just could not get off my mind. After visiting this watch three days in a row, I decided to buy it. I disliked how rose gold was mostly viewed as feminine, and mainly associated with women’s accessories. Once I noticed that I did not have any shoes or belt to match my new rose gold watch is when I realized a void in the market. My initial plan was to become a Dallas real-estate investor with some money I had saved to pursue that. Instead, I immediately filed several trademarks and designed sample shoes and belts. Since I had just finished my sophomore year at the University of Alabama, I did not have much support in the beginning and was constantly told to just focus on school. Loving a challenge, I continued to pursue my passion and dream as well as getting an education. I am now a senior at the University of Alabama and since then, RoseGold Apparel is now in over six countries and has been seen in GQ, ELLE, and Harper’s Bazaar magazines. I recently partnered with a new manufacturer, and RoseGold Apparel is poised to make substantial moves in February.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. The very first night I had the idea of RoseGold Apparel, my older brother Brian told me “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” I don’t think he knew how much those words helped me. In order to not get overwhelmed, I started to work one step at a time to ensure perfection. Allowing each step to not be rushed and done correctly is crucial for building a solid foundation. The first of my two biggest obstacles was realizing that more capital doesn’t always solve your problems. Working smarter, instead of harder was something I implemented immediately. I learned a valuable life lesson that no matter what, it’ll always cost more than expected, so plan accordingly. My second largest obstacle was contemplating staying in school or taking a risk to follow my dream. I have always valued knowledge, but not necessarily the educational system. Since I am a kinesiology major with a minor in business, I did not see the benefit of those classes transitioning into the fashion industry. Having valuable individuals around me, I matured and realized how much University can still help me in multiple avenues of life. Besides learning and networking, continuing my education allowed me the time to build a social media following and a great platform to start marketing my new products coming in February.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the RoseGold Apparel story. Tell us more about the business.
RoseGold Apparel is the first and only men’s designer brand to bring comfort and style through quality shoes and accessories specifically in rose gold. We aim to push the contemporary societal boundaries in fashion, and encourage the individuality of each person. RoseGold aims to progressively shape the perception of masculinity in the color rose gold, and allow individuals to express their ambitions, personality, time, and desires through quality items of RoseGold in the everyday wardrobe of the elegant modern man. The Signature Collection I that releases this upcoming February consists of dress shoes, loafers, and belts composed of Vero Cuoio Italian calf leather, handmade in Brazil that are inspected and selected over a multifaceted process. These leather products will prove RoseGold Apparel’s superior quality, bar none. I am not yet satisfied, but am proud of the execution I have taken on each step to make the right decisions and connections so that RoseGold Apparel ultimately brings our customer the best product and experience possible.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am not a huge believer in luck, since I am well rooted in my faith and believe everything happens for a reason. The two years prior to starting RoseGold Apparel were rough for me, and many prayers were said. I started becoming a better person by eliminating all negative influences in my life and kept trusting an opportunity would eventually come. Fashion is not what I had in mind, but I am so glad this is my direction as I am loving every minute of it. Some may call it luck, but I have been blessed with great family and friends for advice that now support me on my venture which I am so thankful for.
