Meet Brittany Blystone of FURnado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Blystone.

Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since I was little I’ve always loved every animal I wanted to be a vet until I my family and I had to put down our first dog. It broke my heart and I decided to explore more options as I got older. I applied at a big box pet store to be a dog washer, I was hired and then trained to be a dog groomer I’ve been in the industry for 11 years. I build relationships with the pets and the pet parents as well. Trust is key especially in this industry. While working at the big box store policies started changing, they wanted dogs in and out and wanted us to do a crazy amount of dogs a day. I focus more on quality than quantity and it just wasn’t working out for me. I like spending time with the pets to make them comfortable and not hate the grooming process. I started looking into the mobile grooming business since then I can work with the pet 1 on 1 with no interruptions and being able to focus mainly on that pet. I opened FURnado in April 2017, and if I could have done one thing different it would have been opening the business sooner.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With the big box store it was always a struggle trying to get corporate to listen to me, I focus on the pet and the pet parent and they didn’t want that they wanted us to push dogs in and out.

With FURnado it’s going great! Very smooth!

FURnado – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
FURnado is a mobile pet grooming salon, I’m the owner and Pet Stylist, I’m known for my compassion for the pets and “outstanding” customer service, I work with every breed.

I’m very proud of the company and how fast the business is picking up, I’m excited for the future of FURnado I think it’s going to really boom and expand in the near future.

When you have a passion and deep love for something it shows and people definitely see that, and will always remember you, I think that’s what sets FURnado apart from the others, you can see the love I have for the pets. I work with dogs of all ages, conditions and breeds. Some people refuse to take a dog if it’s older, or has any sort of medical conditions (such as seizures, heart murmurs etc. 😉

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was opening and getting my first phone call, I was terrified at first and doubted everything business has been picking up and that makes me really proud that I’ve made an impact that great for people to refer their friends.
