Meet Caitlynn Cabrera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlynn Cabrera.

Caitlynn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a kid, I was very much a tomboy. I wore my hair in a ponytail all the time, wore boy t-shirts and boy sneakers. I was not “girly” and didn’t care much about my appearance. My middle sister, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. Her outfits were always on point. She paid attention to style, details, fabrics and even stitching. We constantly argued over our differences. I couldn’t understand how someone could take more than 10 minutes to get ready, while her frustrations were over me not caring too much about my appearance. Needless to say, she held high standards when it came to presenting herself to the world and expected the same from me.

My sister was diagnosed with chronic asthma and lost her life to it. She was a strong fighter and even through her struggles, she always made it a point to put her best foot forward through her appearance. Losing my sister was, of course, one of the most difficult things I have ever endured. I committed to honoring her by seeing things from her perspective and became more conscious of my appearance. I started to take care of myself and took time to put my outfits together. My mom, like my sister, had a good sense of fashion so I started going to her for advice. Before I knew it, I had become an influence to others. As I became an adult, I realized how much I loved fashion and found out how much I could express myself through it.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely NOT! I question moving forward almost everyday; You want every image to be high quality and eye-catching as an individual and not so much as a collective. One thing I have had to learn is that, I can’t be in control of everything and that things will not always go my way.

Another thing I realized is that it’s hard being an influencer there are so many established women out there doing what I am trying to achieve. The enemy constantly tries to get in my head and make me envious, but “NOT TODAY SATAN!”. With so many people doing what I am trying to do, I would say my struggle is showing my audience what sets me apart from other influencers. We are all trying to do the same things while trying to grow our business while trying to provide content to our audience we are here to help inspiration, give hope, style tips, whatever it may be that someone is seeking.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
The thing that sets me apart from other influencers is that my style is versatile. I am a petite person so it’s not as easy to just purchase any piece of clothing. I have to be creative and find what works best for me. I am not into one particular style. I’d have to say that it depends on my mood. When I’m feeling particularly feminine, I go chic. If I want to show my tough side, I’ll pull out the street style. And when I want my big personality to show, my statement pieces don’t ever let me down. I don’t limit myself to one thing and I don’t think anyone should!

Right now, my goal is the increase my social media followers. Ultimately, I would love have a clothing line and sell it in my own boutique.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I personally don’t believe in good and bad luck; I believe in God! I believe there is always a purpose for the things that happen in my life, whether they be in my favor or not. I feel that I receive signs from Him constantly. I have moments when I get discouraged and feel like giving up on working towards becoming an influencer, and just when I have those thoughts, He shows me a reason why I should continue to do what I am doing. He always let me know when it was time to pursue my ambitions. I believe this is the time because we live in a day and age where people constantly shame each other for the way they look. Society has defined what beauty means and now women expect themselves to live up to those standards. Even worse, women judge each other based on those standards. I want to show my fellow woman that they have the power to define beauty. With creativity and a little bit of effort, they can wear whatever they want and proudly show how fabulous they are. I don’t expect anyone to copy my fashion ideas. What I hope to do is inspire someone to find their own look and live their best life with confidence. Remember, we are made in His image. That, alone, makes us beautiful.
