Meet Carlethia Ambrose of Carlethia the Model in DFW Metroplex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlethia Ambrose.

Carlethia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
From a young age, I have always loved the world of fashion in all aspects from designing, styling, to modeling. I was intrigued by it all. As a child growing up in the 90’s many fashion trends came from the music industry. I would stay up late nights catching all the reruns of MTV TRL, 106 & Park, all the awards shows just to see what the celebrities were wearing. I would then try to recreate many of the looks.

Aaliyah was one of my favorite muse to copy, along with J.Lo and Janet Jackson. But it was Tyra Banks that inspired me to want to be a model. As a young black girl growing up she was what we would say now “goals” of what I aspire to be. At the age of 11, I participated in my first Pageant and although I didn’t win I gained so much knowledge from the experience and being on that stage sparked a new passion of modeling. My mother then after began taking me to numerous casting calls and auditions. I continued to audition, model, do fashion shows, print work perfecting my craft on and off for years up until adulthood.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”-John Lenon, one of my favorite quotes. One of my first obstacles came at the age of 18 when I auditioned for America’s Top Model. After making it through all three stages of the casting call I patiently waited to hear my name called as one the chosen girls. Only to my disappointment I wasn’t picked to continue on, “You have not been selected to continue one please exit the building.” Along my journey of wanting to pursue my passion of modeling life happened. I moved off to Houston for college.

Although I did small gigs here and there my heart wasn’t as dedicated to modeling. I got off track and never really found my focus back on modeling until I moved back home to Dallas. I became a flight attendant and began traveling around the world. Still not fully focused I would travel here and there doing photoshoots as I pleased. I then became a mother to two beautiful children at this point modeling was no longer a priority. Later my mother then was diagnosed with breast cancer which my focus then shifted to her healing. Through my mother’s battle of cancer I learned so many things about myself and life. In that journey I realized I did not want to leave this earth with any regrets or I should have. This is when I then got back focused on modeling. In my lifetime I want to have fulfilled all my passions.

Growing up and to this day I have always been approached by so many people inquiring if I modeled giving their opinions of how I should be a model because of my looks. Although beauty is a factor in modeling its so many more aspects to it others do not realize. I have not always possessed a strong confidence, I am very much an introvert and in this industry that is a big red flag. So me getting out my shell has definitely been a challenge. Finding what differentiates you from others, maintaining the perfect weight so many things goes into modeling. Being a modeling mother is another monster in itself. Finding ways to manage as a full-time mom between castings, rehearsals, shows, and shoots can become a bit overwhelming, but I wouldn’t trade none the experiences for the world. Getting in the mix of the Dallas Aspiring Models has been nothing less then amazing.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am just getting into the Dallas Modeling world as an aspiring model. I have been casted for several fashion shows. I look at myself as the total package in fashion. I have a walk that can kill can any runway. I have the eye to style. I can also assist with managing models, shows, and casting.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have so many plan for the future. My mind is on overdrive with things I want to and will accomplish. My main goal at the moment is marketing myself to become a household name and model in Dallas, and eventually nationwide. I want to be the model that everyone thinks of when planning their shows, shoot, clothing, and boutiques. I want to be that ” We have to get Carlethia for this” topic of discussion. I also will be launching an online boutique called Ruby Jewelz named after my mother in her passing this fall. I am just letting God guide me to fulfill my purpose in life.
