Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy Self.

Cassidy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Real Estate started out as more of a hobby for me, but quickly changed into the best career move I could’ve made. I enjoyed looking at Pinterest boards, going to Open Houses in my neighborhood, and “building” the perfect home in my head. Something about the real estate market in Dallas really grabbed my attention.

I thought about going out on a limb and went to real estate school. Not knowing shortly after I started attending that I would fall in love, I started researching and learning about the market. Being 21 when I started, people continually tried to talk me out of the industry, telling me it was “cut-throat” and “too competitive,” but I was determined to prove them wrong. Today, I have the privilege of working for one of the top real estate brokerages in Dallas. Ebby Halliday puts a lot of emphasis on service to the clients, as well as education for the agents. We are constantly learning about new market trends, rules and regulations, and how to best service the needs of our clients.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Real Estate is NEVER a smooth road, but it is so worth it! Starting up your own business presents very difficult challenges. Some of the struggles I have faced include the start-up cost (which comes with any business), figuring out the business, and learning that each client is different and wants different things. I believe that real estate is selling a relationship, rather than a house. A house sells itself, but having someone that can guide you through the most important transaction of your lifetime is invaluable!

Please tell us more about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
This is probably my favorite question- I specialize in residential real estate in the Dallas- Fort Worth area. My favorite clients to help are the first time homebuyers. I love to see the looks on their faces when I hand them the keys to their first home. Being with Ebby Halliday, Realtors has really helped me out. In 2018, Ebby Halliday had the Largest Market Share in North Texas. Ebby Halliday is known all over North Texas for exceptional service and providing you the most accurate up to date information about the real estate market. Although I am a Sales Associate with Ebby Halliday, Realtors, I still am an independent business owner. Having the support from this Berkshire Hathaway Affiliate really does make all the difference!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have to say my proudest moment so far is helping one of my first-time homebuyers get approved, get through the inspection and appraisal, and into the home of her dreams within 30 days. It took lots of negotiating, long nights, and hard work, but we made it happen!
