Cecilia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Pixee’s Paws Pet Palace was created to provide a home away from home setting for pups. Instead of being in runs most of the days they are in temperament appropriate packs throughout the day and sleep as a pack with their hooman pack leader. Our pack leader is with them throughout the night to ensure safety and calm for our guests. We do have crates of pup is crated at home and are in the same room with pack which gives them a sense of inclusion but consistency as if at home.
Pixee’s has monthly birthday parties with a special theme and even cake based on theme provided by R & B Dog Bakery. Enrichment Days are every Wednesday providing fun themes with pictures!
Pet parents receive pics and communications throughout the day and have access to webcams to peek in on their fur children when they want.
All dogs must be current with vaccinations and in order to attend must pass an 8 hour evaluation to ensure they can play in packs and humans.
Gayla Turley, the proprietor, is a nurse which provides peace of mind for pet parents. She also came up with the concept of dogs that can play together can sleep together.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Challenges are something all small businesses face and we have ours as well. We are proud of our community and have been blessed with the support they provide.
As you know, we’re big fans of Pixee’s Paws Pet Palace. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Pixee’s Paws Pet Palace is a small woman owned business in N. Arlington providing pet care and training. I manage our team as well as facilitate programming for our guests. We are a cafe free dog daycare and boarding facility. Our cage free concept is an anomaly and is something our pet parents love because they know their pets are socializing, playing and even sleeping together. I am so proud of our core team who help maintain the original protocols and mantra of Gayla’s vision. Our community of pet parents have been a surprise blessing. Training, indoor track and dogs that are not fixed are welcome!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Our attention to detail whether it be our daily wellness exams, pictures of guest sent throughout the day providing peace of mind for our pet parents, We have always been proud of hiring folks who love dogs and will love them as if they were their own. Our pet parents’ consistent thread of appreciation is the fact that they can tell their pups are genuinely adored while in our care.
