Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Smith.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chase. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began CrossFit in July 2012. Started as a paying member looking for a new way of training. I was hooked after day one feeling worn out, but yet very much accomplished. As I got further into the lifestyle or way of training, I found out that CrossFit could not only be fitness regimen but also viewed as sport. I began to try local competitions, which exposed me to many gaps I had in my training. I used that experience to redevelop my physical and mental abilities, and with doing so slightly building a bridge between those gaps.
As I got further and further into the sports side, it continued to expose more and more. I learned to appreciate how much CrossFit could humble you and allow to you grow as an individual at the same time. To follow a program that is constantly improving and challenging you every day in all dimension of health and wellness is simply amazing. I wanted to play my part in the world and take my experiences to share with others, helping them to achieve their goals in life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been far from smooth for my athletic career but has allowed me to grow more than I could ever think of it I did have a smooth road.
I battled with injuries from past sports, that would affect my goals in a great way. In my first year (2015) qualifying for a semi-final (CF regionals) event, I added up tearing my chest and had to withdraw. The following year (2016) came back stronger; Qualified for semi-finals again and ended up tying for the finals but lost the tiebreaker paced on their rule book at the time. The next year (2017) I had the peak of my training and felt that all gaps were finally closed for the semi-final events. As I’m performing midway through one of the events at semi-finals (CF regionals) I was not only winning but about to set the world record when suddenly I suffered a major injury tear my chest.
Tell us more about your work.
Evolvd Performance is a virtual CrossFit program. It is specifically developed for individuals and group classes (affiliates. It is not a one size fits all. Each program is tailed to the specific needs for an individual or group. It gives me great pleasure to see individuals take the tools I give them and craft their results from the hard work they put in. Consistency is key for all, and my clients stand as a testimonial to that.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Only plans I have for the future is to continue to grow this community and continue to sharpen and share my tools along the way.
