Today we’d like to introduce you to Chasity Berry.
Chasity, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Initially, I begin to think of opening my own business in 2017 but wasn’t sure if it was obtainable or even how to get started. I was mentored by other business owners and started working on my own business plan. Early October 2018, I started the process of purchasing my first business.
January 2019, I began my renovations and March 2019, opened Berry Sharp Studio full time.
Currently, now, we are a fully staffed Barber Salon Studio open and available to meet your needs by walk-ins or appointments.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was a very challenging experience in the beginning due to the fact I also work full time for Apple Inc. So, I had to find a way to balance my work life and also put every free day, I had into building my business. Networking every chance I had to recruit people that would be a good fit for my shop & spending weekends and nights handing out flyers to promote and fill positions.
I am so thankful for my family and friends I have in my corner to assist with the process. Whether it was promoting on their social media or helping me paint and renovate the shop.
My inspiration now and always is my father. At any, I felt like I may have had too much on my shoulders, I can hear his voice telling me “Don’t stop, keep pushing as hard as you can.” Something he instilled in me as a child and throughout my adult life.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Berry Sharp Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
I currently have a fully staffed Barber Studio with some amazing licensed barbers and a few with over 20 years of experience in the barber field. We specialize in men’s & women grooming services with great customer service.
I am super proud of how hard they work to make sure our customers are satisfied on a daily basis. What sets us apart from others is that we are a small shop that gives us an opportunity to be a close family instead of just coworkers or employees. We pride ourselves in the level of experience you get inside of Berry Sharp, whether you are bringing your older family members or young kids, everyone is treated with respect inside of our close-knit barber community.
Providing quality, service, and atmosphere. In addition to the service, we also have an incredible selfie wall hand-painted by a local Dallas artist Aemorin Beard, to take pics and post to social media and show off your experience!
Our motto – “It’s not just a haircut, it’s an experience!”
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We are a fairly new, renovated shop doing some major rebranding. We will constantly continue innovating and improving the customer experience. Also, my hopes are to expand to other locations in the DFW area and beyond changing the hair industry one person at a time!
Coming up – August 2019, I plan to have a Grand Re-Opening, with a school supply & backpack drive. While also providing haircuts as well to help parents and children ensure a smooth transition into the new school year.
