Today we’d like to introduce you to Christie Bingham.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Christie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When my husband and I bought our first restaurant in 2006, we didn’t know anything about being entrepreneurs. All we knew is that we had a desire to work for ourselves, to work hard, to make our own destinies. We listened to our customers, sacrificed and worked long hours. In 2009, we had a successful business with a solid reputation. We sold that cafe and opened another restaurant in North Richland Hills. We hoped to have the same success for lunch and dinner that we had experienced for breakfast and lunch, and turn our hard work into more dollars. It was not meant to be. In 2012, we closed that restaurant and came back to breakfast and lunch with our tails between our legs, licking our much-wounded egos. Quietly and slowly the Beacon Cafe began to shine in the Dallas Fort Worth area. People came and kept coming and are still driving or flying from all over. We are very humbled by our success and the loyalty of our customers.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been easy. We are quietly located on a little known airport in Far North Fort Worth, so growth has been slow but steady.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Beacon Cafe – what should we know?
We have make it our business to serve the very best breakfast and lunch you can find. We try to use products that are fresh and local. We elevate flavor and quality over cost and speed. Sometimes it takes longer to get your food, but it is cooked to order. In a ready to serve industry, it is hard to find food that is prepared from scratch (despite the claims). We take pride in serving food that is less processed and higher in quality than our competitors. We also pride ourselves on “Raving Fans-Service,” (yes, I read the book). We are a work share environment. Everyone is responsible for giving the very best service to every guest that walks through our door. If someone leaves without raving fans-service, then we have all failed to do our job. When a guest leaves this cafe, they shouldn’t just be satisfied, they should be raving about the experience.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Our high standards for exceptional food and service.
