Meet Clemens “Korky” Kathman of Entropy Dynamics in Coppell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clemens “Korky” Kathman.

Korky, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The beginning actually dates all the way back to when I was in high school in the Dallas area in 1970. Our high school at that time was one of only four that actually allow extracurricular training on learning to program computers. I’d go after school and as a part of the “math club” we all took self-paced courses on programming. While I was in college I put together my first computer at home along with an old Heathkit keyboard and monitor. That allowed me to get my feet wet writing programs for myself and others for fun. Shortly after, I bought my first Apple II Computer and opened a DBA business called Contemporary Microsystems. I had a few clients in the Oil and Gas Field and the Investments field that I designed commercial programs for their use. We designed and marketed some education software along the way, also. However, that was also about the time that people were really beginning to discover the power of the World Wide Web.

I continued that company for a while just as a side business. As our kids grew and my travel did also as a Manufacturing Systems Consultant, I had a little less time to spend on those systems, and lost touch with that programming and implementation. In 1995, however, I began to see more and more opportunities arising from Web applications.

My son, who was in high school at the time, began learning the skills for building interactive websites. As it so happened, one of our church office people was complaining one day how their website was out of date and how much it cost to get their “IT” company to come and fix things. I was appalled! I scheduled a little time with the senior pastor and the staff, and offered to take over the web page at a fraction of what they were paying. We re-did the website and our response was lots faster than their previous company. So, my son and I did a little calling around to a few companies that were in niche markets such as Lawyers, Doctors, Dentists, and Churches to just talk to their business folks and find out if they were, in my opinion, being “gouged”. Well, sure enough they were. And so were a lot of not-for-profits. That’s how Entropy Dynamics was formed in 1997. Since then we’ve had 20 profitable years serving small “mom-and-pop” shops, to medium sized companies in their web design and web marketing ever changing needs. Entropy is actually the characterized by lack of order, or the change into chaos.

We built the company around that philosophy that in order to advance you have to change and change is good. We continue to help our customers reach their goals by leading them through new, innovative technologies, implementing those on the web and increasing their positive presence in their market.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We’ve been very fortunate that we’ve grown with our customers. The road has been steady, but sure. As with any technology company we engage with our customers to mitigate their risks. The biggest struggles for any enterprise is how to continually make and re-make yourself on the web so that you are consistently successful in your unified marketing goals. Since much of our business revolves around website development and visibility of our customer’s sites, our business ebbs and flows with the success of technological leaders such as Microsoft, Google, Apple, Yahoo and other major organizations that are involved in the marketing area. As Google changes their search algorithms to improve their service to their users, we, too, have to bend and flex our customers web needs, also.

You could say that, again, change is GOOD, but it’s also challenging when it’s moving incredibly fast.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Entropy Dynamics – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our company, Entropy Dynamics, is part of our parent corporation, EntDyn Ventures.

Our enterprise focuses, as a whole, on the discovery and evaluation of new technologies and how we might use those to provide innovative solutions for our clients.

Entropy Dynamics, was our founding company and we’re best known as a provider of quality, cost-effect web marketing services including web-design, graphical design, content delivery, Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing and professional consulting. We believe that our competitive edge is our breadth of experience and our personal attention to our clients.

We pride ourselves on our high quality of our deliverables and the people that provide those services.

We follow new networking paradigms in delivering these services by contracting with teams of professionals from around the world to allow us to meet our client’s goals and objectives.

We also value traditional values at our company, especially the priorities our employees and contractors have with their families and their community. We often sponsor fun outings and get-togethers where we invite them to kick down and enjoy others that they work with or may have collaborated with on projects. Since we’re a virtual organization, it’s not unusual for our contributors to work with others that they’ve really never met other than on line. Our sponsored activities give them a chance to make that physical connection in a casual setting.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our growth at the Entropy Dynamics level has been to continue to grow our client base and retain our customers long term. We currently manage over 500 domains and related services.

Each of these ebb and flow in their needs. We continue to expand each year, mostly from our relationships with networks of organizations and our own client’s worth of mouth.

Our main focus the last couple of years has been in our Enterprise Training Solutions sector where we are building new service offerings to support specialization that we see in the business markets and in Information Technology Management.
