Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Stensland.
Courtney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a passion for exploring this city. Having grown up in Dallas and living here my whole life, besides college (boomer!), there is always something new to see or an event to attend! At The University of Oklahoma, I majored in Public Relations and fell in love with social media marketing, design, and writing. A few weeks ago, I decided to be vulnerable and combine all my passions together, which led me to creating @StensInTheCity… I truly believe if you have a passion for something and set your mind to it, you can achieve anything. I am excited to see where @StensInTheCity goes.
Not only does this account help me engage with the community, but it also encourages me to try new things. My goal for this account is for it to be THE place to go on social media where Dallasites can plan out their weekday or weekends; the place to find new and fun places to go for Happy Hours, birthday dinners, nights out on the town, etc. There is so much more I want to accomplish with this account and I’m excited to help others discover this awesome and ever-changing city we live in!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am so grateful for the love and support I’ve been given! Starting anything takes a lot of work… but as they say, “love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life!” This account is definitely hard work, but it is so fun and rewarding!

I’ve always told my friends that when I look at something, I truly see it through a camera lens. I love photography and finding the best angle. I think this sets me apart from other accounts. Not only do I take time to ensure I have the best photo, but my niche is finding all things colorful around the city! I have a very vibrant and outgoing personality, and I wanted my Instagram page to reflect that! I am most proud of hitting 1K followers in just one month and all of the connections I’ve already made in this short of time. I’ve met with other bloggers who have truly inspired me and have become great friends!! I hope that others will see my page and follow along as I explore Dallas everyday! Cheers to StensInTheCity, and here’s to many more colorful days in the best city ever (sorry, I’m bias!)
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Looking back to my childhood, I would have to say my favorite memories involved traveling to the beach. As much as I love Dallas, one thing I can admit we lack is a beach front. The beach is something I love. It reminds me of amazing memories made with friends and family. My favorites are the Bahamas, Grand Caymans, Seaside and the Dominican Republic. These are not only drop-dead gorgeous destinations, but they are filled with so many vibrant colors and positive vibes all around! There is something about lounging on a beach chair under the sun that cannot be beat!
