Today we’d like to introduce you to Daray Olaleye.
Daray, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I became an entrepreneur through necessity. I needed a better life. I needed there to be fulfilled in the work that I was doing. I needed to find out just how far my true potential goes. I got started down my entrepreneurial and investing journey in 2016 after I decided that I could no longer live an unfulfilling and average life. I was caught in a routine that I see many individuals stick out for 40 plus years. I knew that I could never do that and it got to a point where I was positive that I couldn’t do it for another year. Life has a funny way of working because soon after I started getting pushed out of the firm and since my back was against the wall, I had no other choice but to initially improvise and then thrive. Real estate was my first love but I started more than a handful of businesses that year and ultimately found my way back to real estate not only for the purpose of an investment portfolio but also a full-fledged business that allowed me to become location independent, create generational wealth and pour into those that come after me.
Today, I mentor overwhelmed and unfulfilled employees in the professional world through the process of creating and building a lifestyle business through real estate investing so that they can escape the rat race and live the life of their dreams. Over the past few years, I’ve been able to help dozens of individuals create financial freedom, travel the world and make an impact on the masses while enjoying life and making the world a better place. What excites me most about the work that I do is the ability to make real change and help others down a path most would never dare to embark on. While simultaneously growing my passive-income portfolio of real estate assets and business accolades, I channeled my burning desire to help others by urging a change in their beliefs about who they are and what type of lifestyle they’re able to achieve with the right mindset, focus and leverage. Real estate happens to be the vehicle that I do that through.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My goals has always been to pursue a lifestyle the complemented long-term travel, at the very least 3-6 month sabbaticals in different countries. I love exploring and meeting new people. After college, I went to work for a Big 4 accounting firm, auditing the financial statements of some of the largest real estate companies in the world. A lot of people would give everything to work for a firm of this caliber, yet I was discontented with my path but more importantly my lack of freedom.
For years, I struggled to cope with the American norm. I fought it every step of the way. Nothing about it sat right with me, from the amount of taxes being taken out of my check, to the 70 hour work weeks with no overtime pay and the lack of purpose and fulfillment I experienced day-in day-out. It wasn’t until I saw the writing on the wall that I wouldn’t last a few more years, much less a few more months at the firm that I realized how ‘risky’ I’d been living. I had essentially put all my eggs in one basket – a basket that I had no control over. From that time forward, I knew that I had to take massive action to pave my own way – and I did.
Please tell us about Before The Millions.
Before the Millions is an educational platform that’s reach spans to over 100 countries. The platform provides educational material in the form of one on one coaching, group coaching, workshops, courses and masterclasses.
To date, I have invested over 750 hours (mostly on a 1 on 1 basis) to the betterment of these individuals to escape the rat race through real estate. Most individuals discover my platform through the Before The Millions Podcast, a show that goes behind the curtain of some of the most successful people in real estate. Every show I interview a new millionaire about their path to wealth and lifestyle design – to date we’ve had 150+ millionaires on the show. What really sets BTM apart is the fact that I don’t believe in the one size fits all approach, I help individuals through the process of creating the best real estate business for them, whether it’s my strategy or the strategy of a guest on the show. Ultimately, it’s about creating your deal lifestyle design not to become a millionaire and that’s what my message hinges on.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I believe that everything happens for a reason. I needed every obstacle and learning experience in my way and still welcome them. I live with no regrets but continue to learn from past experiences making those experiences all the more important.
My biggest advice for individuals looking to take charge of their life is simple and cliche but just get started. I cannot describe to you how many individuals I’ve had a conversation with that want to travel and make passive income but are still weighing their options or waiting for all of the lights to turn green in turn never getting started. I have a few more stories about why it’s important to get started and maybe even fail big but this quote should just about summarize the lesson: “You don’t need to know anything. Everything you need to know, you’ll figure it out when you need to know. Even if you miscalculate and make the wrong decision, you needed to know that” – Jerry Seinfeld.
