Hi Darrin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After a successful career as an attorney and corporate executive, I made a major life pivot to pursue something more personally meaningful: helping people improve their relationships and emotional well-being. I returned to school, earned a master’s in counseling, and during that time began training with the Southwest Sexual Health Alliance (an AASECT-approved program) to become a Certified Sex Therapist. I later founded Eros Counseling, my private therapy practice in North Dallas. I’m also a Certified Mediator in both basic and family law, and have advanced training in the Gottman Method (Level 3) and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I integrate these approaches—along with mindfulness practices from my years teaching Buddhist meditation—to help individuals and couples navigate anxiety, deepen connection, and create more fulfilling lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but it’s been deeply rewarding. Transitioning from law and corporate life into mental health meant starting over—academically, professionally, and even personally. I had to let go of a familiar identity and embrace the vulnerability of being a beginner again. Building a private practice from the ground up also came with its share of challenges: learning to market myself ethically, navigating licensing requirements, and trusting that the clients would come. But each of those struggles taught me something valuable about resilience, alignment, and the importance of staying connected to why I chose this path in the first place.

Eros Counseling is a boutique private therapy practice based in North Dallas, offering highly personalized mental health services for individuals and couples. I specialize in relationship counseling, anxiety, emotional disconnection, and sex therapy. I’m exploring opportunities to offer more intensive couples work, retreats, and possibly coaching services for clients outside of Texas. I’m also interested in collaborating with other professionals—therapists, coaches, even physicians—to create integrated care for high-performing individuals and couples. On a personal note, I’m always looking for ways to deepen my own growth so I can continue showing up with clarity, presence, and purpose for the people I serve.
